American singer Amy Grant has released 20 studio albums (including 5 Christmas albums), 11 compilation albums, 5 live albums, and 84 singles. Considered one of the pioneers in the contemporary Christian music genre, [1] Grant was also the first major Christian artist to successfully cross over into the mainstream. [2]
Amy Grant has sold over 30 million albums worldwide throughout her career, making her the Best Selling Contemporary Christian artist of all time. [3] [4] She has 17 No. 1 albums on Billboard 's Top Christian Albums, more than any other artists in history. [5] She is also known as the "Queen of Christian Pop" [6] and the "Queen of Christmas Music" by various media outlets. [7] According to RIAA, she has sold 17 million certified albums in the United States while Billboard listed her as the 46th Top Christian Artist of the 2010s. [8] Capitol Christian Music Group honored Grant with a special award in honor of one billion career global streams. [9]
At the age of 15, Grant signed a record deal with Myrrh Records. A year later in 1977, she released her self-titled debut album, which sold over 50,000 copies in its first year, a high total at the time for a Christian artist. [10] Her follow-up albums My Father's Eyes (1978) and Never Alone (1980) reached the No. 1 spot on the Christian Albums chart, and 1982's Age to Age became the first Christian album recorded by a solo artist to receive gold and platinum certifications from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). [11] The album spent a record 85 weeks atop the Christian Albums chart and was the only No. 1 album for the entire year of 1983. [12]
Grant first experienced mainstream success with 1985's Unguarded , which became the first Christian album to yield a top 40 single on the Billboard Hot 100; [13] the album was certified platinum by the RIAA. In 1986, Grant recorded her first No. 1 single on the Hot 100 with "The Next Time I Fall", a duet with Peter Cetera. Her 1988 album Lead Me On shipped with a gold certification, a first for a Christian album, but did not sell as well as Unguarded. However, it received substantial acclaim and is frequently ranked by critics as the best Christian album of all time. [14]
Grant's 1991 album Heart in Motion became the best-selling Christian album of all time, selling over six million copies. [15] Its single "Baby Baby" marked Grant's second No. 1 single on the Hot 100, and it also charted in the top ten in Australia, Canada, Europe, and the UK. The album had five singles chart in the top 20 in the United States and Canada and was certified 5× platinum by the RIAA; it was also certified platinum in Australia, Canada, and Taiwan. Her 1994 album House of Love yielded two top 40 singles in the United States and three in Canada; it has been certified 2× platinum by the RIAA and platinum in Canada. Her albums Behind the Eyes (1997) and Legacy... Hymns and Faith (2002) have both been certified gold. Grant's most recent studio album, 2013's How Mercy Looks from Here , debuted at No. 12 on the Billboard 200 and was her sixteenth No. 1 album on the Christian Albums chart. [16]
Grant is also known for her Christmas albums; [17] her first, A Christmas Album , was released in 1983 as her fifth major release and has been certified platinum by the RIAA and gold in Canada. 1992's Home for Christmas , her eleventh major release and second Christmas album, peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, Grant's highest-charting album on the chart, and has been certified 3× platinum by the RIAA and gold in Canada. With over 2.5 million copies sold in the United States as of December 2014, it ranks as one of the best-selling Christmas albums since Nielsen SoundScan began tracking album sales in 1991. [18]

The Beautiful Letdown is the fourth studio album by alternative rock band Switchfoot, released on February 25, 2003, by RED Ink Records, and later re-released through Sony Music. It marked the band's first release on a major label and their first release with keyboardist Jerome Fontamillas. The album was produced by John Fields and Switchfoot and recorded over a span of around two weeks; all songs on the album were written either in part or entirely by lead singer Jon Foreman.
"Baby Baby" is a pop song by American recording artist Amy Grant and it was issued as the first single from her eighth studio album, Heart in Motion (1991). The song was written by Grant and Keith Thomas, who also produced it. It was released on January 18, 1991, through A&M Records and topped the US Billboard Hot 100 chart for two consecutive weeks in April 1991, becoming the first in a string of hits from Heart in Motion. At the 34th Annual Grammy Awards in 1992, the song received three Grammy Award nominations, including Song of the Year and Record of the Year. Its music video was directed by D.J. Webster and first aired in March 1991.
"House of Love" is a song by American Christian music singer Amy Grant, recorded as a duet with country singer Vince Gill. It was released in November 1994 as the second single from her House of Love album in the United States and the fourth and final single from the album in the United Kingdom.
The discography of Michael W. The Oak Ridge Boys are an American musical group. Originally a gospel quartet, The Oak Ridge Boys switched their focus to secular country music in the mid-1970s, releasing a string of hit albums and singles that lasted into the early 1990s. Their discography comprises thirty-one studio albums and fifty-six singles. Their highest-selling album is 1981's Fancy Free, which is certified double-platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
The Christmas Sessions is the first Christmas album by American Christian rock band MercyMe. The album, produced by Brown Bannister, was released on September 27, 2005. The band, who greatly enjoy Christmas, had previously recorded Christmas songs and enjoyed the process so much that they wanted to produce a full-length album. After releasing a studio album in early 2004, they decided to take time off; they realized they could record a Christmas album over that period and began work in December 2004. The band, aiming to produce a rock-oriented album, recruited Bannister, a noted rock producer, to produce it. In addition to one original song, "Joseph's Lullaby", the album consists of covers of both modern and traditional Christmas songs that the band members had listened to when growing up.
This is the discography of TobyMac. He was originally a member of dc Talk from 1988 to 2001. Since 2001 he has released eight studio albums, two Christmas albums, five remix albums, three live albums, and three extended plays as a solo artist.
Ricky Van Shelton is an American country music artist. His discography consists of nine studio albums, two Christmas albums, four compilation albums, and twenty-eight singles. Of his singles, twenty-six have charted on Billboard country singles charts in the U.S., including ten Number Ones.
Peace on Earth is the first Christmas album by American Christian rock band Casting Crowns. Produced by Mark Hall and Mark A. Miller, it was released on October 7, 2008. Intended by Hall to bring out the worshipful aspect of Christmas, the album does not have songs relating to secular Christmas traditions, instead featuring a mix of traditional Christmas carols and original songs. As co-producer, Hall attempted to differentiate the album from their previous ones by attempting to use creative ideas they had not tried before, and he also wanted to utilize the band's female members in a broader and more visible role on the album.
"Call My Name" is a song recorded by the Christian rock band Third Day. Written by Mac Powell and produced by Third Day, it was released as the lead single from the band's 2008 album Revelation through Essential Records. "Call My Name" has been considered a pop rock and "AC-friendly" song with a basic drum track and a "solid" melody. Lyrically, it has been alternately described as being set from the perspective of God or being a cry out to God.
The discography of Casting Crowns, an American Christian rock band, consists of nine studio albums, two independent albums, two holiday albums, five live albums, and 24 singles. Casting Crowns was formed in 1999 as a student worship band in Daytona Beach, Florida, with a lineup consisting of Mark Hall (vocals), Melodee DeVevo (violin), Juan DeVevo (guitars) and Hector Cervantes (guitars). The band relocated to McDonough, Georgia in 2001 and added Chris Huffman, Megan Garrett (keyboard) and Andy Williams (drums). The band released two independent records, one of which was discovered by Mark Miller, a country musician. Miller signed the band to his record label, Beach Street Records, a division of Reunion Records.
The discography of MercyMe, an American Christian rock band, includes 11 studio albums, two compilation albums, two video albums, and 28 singles. MercyMe, formed in 1994, released six independent albums from 1995–2000 before signing with INO Records and releasing their major label debut album, Almost There (2001). Almost There peaked at No. 37 on the Billboard 200 and No. 1 on the Billboard Christian Albums chart. The band released Spoken For, their second studio album, in 2002; it peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Christian Albums chart and No. 41 on the Billboard 200. Its second single, "Word of God Speak", spent a record 23 weeks atop the Billboard Christian Songs chart. The album has been certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), and has sold over 550,000 copies. In 2003, mainstream radio interest in "I Can Only Imagine", the band's second single from Almost There, caused sales of the album to surge. "I Can Only Imagine" would peak at No. 5 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart and No. 71 on the Billboard Hot 100.
