The women's javelin throw event was part of the track and field athletics programme at the 1936 Summer Olympics. The competition was held on August 2, 1936. The final was won by Tilly Fleischer of Germany. [1]

She competed for Germany in the 1932 Summer Olympics held in Los Angeles in three different events, taking the bronze medal in the javelin. Four years later in her home country at the 1936 Games she won the gold medal in the javelin in front of the Berlin crowds.
