Barrackpore Police Commissionerate or Barrackpore City Police, established on 20 January 2012, is a city police force with primary responsibilities in law enforcement and investigation within the area which roughly constitutes the Barrackpore subdivision, and is located within the northern part of Kolkata metropolitan area. [6] The Commissionerate is part of the West Bengal Police, and is under the administrative control of Home Ministry of West Bengal. It was formed after bifurcation of the North 24 Parganas Police District, and has 16 police stations under its jurisdiction. [7] Sanjoy Mukherjee was appointed as the first Commissioner of the Barrackpore Police Commissionerate. [8]
The police commissionerate is situated at Barrackpore, and is divided into two divisions – Barrackpore and Belghoria. [9] The commissionerate is responsible for law enforcement over an area of 269.5 square kilometres (104.1 sq mi) area [10] with 25 police stations under it. [11] The commissionerate is headed by the Commissioner of Police, who is an Indian Police Service officer in the rank of Inspector-General of Police (IGP). The commissioner is assisted by a joint commissioner. There are two deputy commissioners for the two divisions. [12] Other departments, including the detective department and the traffic wing are headed by Additional deputy commissioners, who are in the rank of deputy superintendent of police. The police stations are headed by an Inspector.
The Kolkata Police Force (KPF) is one of the six presidency police forces of the Indian state of West Bengal. Kolkata Police has the task of policing the metropolitan area of Kolkata, India, as defined under the Calcutta Police Act, 1866 and the Calcutta Suburban Police Act, 1866. The primary functions of the forces are maintaining law and order in the city, traffic management, prevention and detection of crime and co-ordinating various citizen-centric services for the people of Kolkata. As of 2018, Kolkata Police has eight divisions covering 79 police stations. It has a strength of approximately 35,000 and a territorial jurisdiction of c. 243 km2 (94 sq mi). There are eight battalions of armed forces as well as specialised branches. The force also uses various modern technologies for effective handling of unconventional crimes, terrorism and related activities.

Howrah City Police established in 2011, is a city police force with primary responsibilities in law enforcement and investigation in Howrah city and some of its adjacent areas in Howrah district. The Commissionerate is part of the West Bengal Police and is under the administrative control of Home Ministry of West Bengal. It was formed after the bifurcation of the Howrah Police District and has eighteen police stations under its jurisdiction as of now. Presently, P. K. Tripathi, IPS is appointed as the Commissioner of the Howrah Police Commissionerate.
Asansol–Durgapur Police Commissionerate (ADPC), established in 2011, is a city police force with primary responsibilities in law enforcement and investigation within the area which roughly constitutes the Asansol and Durgapur subdivision of West Bengal. The Commissionerate is part of the West Bengal Police, and is under the administrative control of Home Ministry of West Bengal. Asansol–Durgapur Police Commissionerate carved out from the undivided district of Burdwan, West Bengal, and has 15 police stations of Burdwan district under its jurisdiction. Ajay Nand was the first Commissioner of the Asansol – Durgapur Police Commissionerate. Now, it is headed by Sudheer Kumar Neelankantam.
Bhubaneswar–Cuttack Police Commissionerate(Odia:ଭୁବନେଶ୍ଵର-କଟକ ପୋଲିସ କମିଶନରେଟ),established in 2008, is a city police force with primary responsibilities in law enforcement and investigation within the metropolitan area of Bhubaneswar-Cuttack. It was formed under the Orissa Urban Police Act, 2003 by a gazette notification which came into effect on 1 January 2008. It has 43 police stations under its jurisdiction. Mr. S.K. Priyadarshi, IPS is currently the Commissioner of the Bhubaneswar–Cuttack Police Commissionerate.
