The Old Jeffersonville Historic District is located in Jeffersonville, Indiana, United States. It marks the original boundaries of Jeffersonville, and is the heart of modern-day downtown Jeffersonville. It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. The area is roughly bounded by Court Avenue at the North, Graham Street on the east, the Ohio River at the south, and Interstate 65 at the west. In total, the district has 203 acres (0.8 km2), 500 buildings, 6 structures, and 11 objects. Several banks are located in the historic buildings in the district. The now defunct Steamboat Days Festival, held on the second weekend in September, used to be held on Spring Street and the waterfront. Jeffersonville's largest fire wiped out a block in the historic district on January 11, 2004 which destroyed the original Horner's Novelty store.
The Sycamore Historic District is a meandering area encompassing 99 acres (400,000 m2) of the land in and around the downtown of the DeKalb County, Illinois, county seat, Sycamore. The area includes historic buildings and a number of historical and Victorian homes. Some significant structures are among those located within the Historic District including the DeKalb County Courthouse and the Sycamore Public Library. The district has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since May 2, 1978.
The Oregon Commercial Historic District is a historic district in Oregon, Illinois, that has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 2006. The district is roughly bordered by Jefferson, Franklin, 5th and 3rd Streets in Oregon. It is one of six Oregon sites listed on the National Register and one of three to be so listed since the turn of the 21st century. The other two are the Oregon Public Library, listed in 2003, and the Chana School, listed in 2005.
Southside is an urban neighborhood in the south central section of the United States city of Greensboro, North Carolina. Southside has also been known as the Ol' Asheboro neighborhood, Arlington Park, the Asheboro Street neighborhood, and the South Greensboro neighborhood. Located in downtown Greensboro, its streets are lined with historic Queen Anne mansions and bungalows, complemented by new development that has attracted a diverse population. The downtown neighborhood has received several national awards including the 2003 Outstanding Planning Award, the 2004 National Award for Smart Growth and in 2005 the Sierra Club named the Southside Neighborhood in the top 12 as one of America's best new developments
The Chick House is a former hotel building constructed in 1857 in the city of Rockford, Illinois, United States. The building's construction was financed by three Rockford citizens and it operated as a hotel from its opening until 1951. The hotel was purchased by Thomas Chick in 1888 and he renamed it from the Griggs House to the Chick House. In 2004 the city of Rockford purchased two-thirds of the building and made some modifications to the structure. The building is a mesh between the Greek Revival and Italianate styles and feature simple ornamentation that contrasts with a neighboring building. The Chick House is a Rockford Landmark and was listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in 1997.
The North Hatfield Historic District encompasses a small rural village in Hatfield, Massachusetts. It consists of a small cluster of buildings along West Street and Depot Road in the vicinity of a former railroad station. It includes a few buildings associated with the railroad, including a depot and freight buildings, as well as commercial and residential structures, most of which postdate the 1848 arrival of the railroad. The village was important in the community as an arrival point for immigrants working in its fields and industry. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1997.
The Warsaw Courthouse Square Historic District is a historic district in Warsaw, Indiana that was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. Its boundaries were increased in 1993.
Cody Road Historic District is a nationally recognized historic district located in Le Claire, Iowa, United States. It includes 60 buildings along a nine-block stretch of U.S. Route 67, Cody Road, the primary street through the town. The district contains Le Claire's main commercial district on the south side of the district and residential area on the north. The district has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1979.
St. Matthew Evangelical Lutheran School is a historic Lutheran school building located at 2101-2107 W. 21st Street in Chicago, Illinois. Built in 1882, it is one of the only surviving Italianate school buildings in Chicago. While the Italianate style was popular in Chicago in the second half of the 19th century, it was mainly used in homes and commercial buildings rather than institutional buildings, making the school's design uncommon even for its era. The school's distinctive Italianate features include its tall windows with arched lintels, its symmetrical front facade, its double bracketed cornice, and the cupola atop its roof. The school is also one of the oldest remaining school buildings in the Lower West Side and its adjacent community areas; only four older schools remain within these nine community areas, and St. Ignatius College Prep is the only older parochial school.
The Delphi Courthouse Square Historic District in Delphi, Indiana is a 23-acre (9.3 ha) area roughly bounded by Monroe, Main, Market and Indiana Streets. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2010. It includes Italianate architecture and Classical Revival architecture and work by Elmer Dunlap among its 31 contributing buildings.
The Village Hobby Shop is a historic building in the village of Mechanicsburg, Ohio, United States. Built on Main Street in the late 19th century, it is one of the village's oldest extant commercial buildings, and it has been named a historic site.
The John H. Clark House is a historic residence in the village of Mechanicsburg, Ohio, United States. Built during Mechanicsburg's most prosperous period, it was the home of a prominent local doctor, and it has been named a historic site because of its historic architecture.
The Belvidere North State Street Historic District is a historic district on the north side of the Kishwaukee River in Belvidere, Illinois. It is primarily composed of commercial building representative of architectural trends from 1865 to 1962. The district has remained largely intact since the mid-1930s.
The Bailey–Rugg Building was a historic commercial building located at 219-225 North Neil Street in Champaign, Illinois.
The Pierceton Historic District encompasses the central business district of a small community in east central Kosciusko County, Indiana. It is next to the former Pennsylvania Railroad line. The design, setting, materials, workmanship and association between buildings give a sense of the history and architecture of a small town main street.
The Clay County Courthouse, located at 300 Broadway Street in Louisville, is the county courthouse serving Clay County, Illinois. Built in 1913, the courthouse was Clay County's fourth courthouse; it has served continuously as the seat of Clay County government since its opening. Architect Joseph W. Royer, who planned several other Illinois courthouses, designed the Classical Revival building. The courthouse was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2015.
The building at 203–205 North Market Street is a historic commercial building located in Champaign, Illinois. Built circa 1870, the building has an architecturally significant Italianate design, stylistically matching its neighbor at 201 North Market Street. The Italianate style was popular in both residential and commercial buildings in the United States from the 1850s through the 1880s. The two-story building's characteristic Italianate features include its tall, narrow arched windows capped with keystones and its brick entablature. The building also has a cast iron storefront with classical details, a popular decorative element in contemporary commercial buildings. A limestone sidewalk, possibly the only 19th-century stone sidewalk remaining in Champaign, runs in front of the building.
Plymouth Downtown Historic District is a national historic district located in Plymouth, Marshall County, Indiana, United States. The district encompasses 47 contributing buildings and one contributing structure in the central business district of Plymouth. It developed between about 1870 and 1940, and includes examples of Italianate, Romanesque Revival, and Colonial Revival style architecture. Located in the district is the separately listed Plymouth Fire Station. Other notable buildings include the Montgomery Ward Building (1929), Metsker Block, Rentschler Building (1910), Early Plymouth Post Office (1884), First National Bank-Plymouth City Hall, Packard Bank Block (1879), Simons Building (1895), Wheeler Block, Bank Block, Bank Block-Masonic Temple (1901), Plymouth Post Office (1935), and Plymouth Motor Sales (1929).
The Mount Pleasant Downtown Historic District is a commercial historic district roughly bounded by Mosher, Franklin, Illinois and Washington Streets in Mount Pleasant, Michigan. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2014.
The Champaign Downtown Commercial District is a commercial historic district encompassing 19.4 acres (7.9 ha) in downtown Champaign, Illinois. The district includes some of the oldest parts of the city's downtown, and its buildings represent the city's development in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Champaign was founded in the 1850s when the Illinois Central Railroad added a station in a rural area west of neighboring Urbana and the town formed around it; the oldest buildings in the district date from the following decade. Several buildings connected to the Illinois Central are included in the district. The opening of the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign in 1867 furthered Champaign's growth, and development in the downtown commercial district continued steadily through 1940. The district's commercial buildings exhibit a variety of building types and architectural styles, including Italianate, Art Deco, and various revival styles. Champaign's City Building and other local government buildings are also part of the district.
