East Lynne is a city in eastern Cass County, Missouri The population was 303 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Kansas City metropolitan area within the United States. [4]
East Lynne was platted in 1871. [5] The city took its name from the novel East Lynne by Ellen Wood. [6] A post office has been in operation at East Lynne since 1871. [7]
East Lynne is located six miles east of Harrisonville on Missouri Route K. The site is on the Missouri–Kansas–Texas Railroad and the St. Louis–San Francisco Railway lines. Gunn City is three miles to the east along the Missouri–Kansas–Texas line. Camp Branch flows past the north side of the community. [8]
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.33 square miles (0.85 km2), all land. [9]

The racial makeup of the city was 97.4% White, 0.3% African American, 0.3% Native American, and 2.0% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.7% of the population.
There were 107 households, of which 42.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 49.5% were married couples living together, 15.0% had a female householder with no husband present, 5.6% had a male householder with no wife present, and 29.9% were non-families. 24.3% of all households were made up of individuals, and 12.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.83 and the average family size was 3.40.
The median age in the city was 31.9 years. 32.3% of residents were under the age of 18; 6% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 29% were from 25 to 44; 19.6% were from 45 to 64; and 13.2% were 65 years of age or older. The gender makeup of the city was 53.1% male and 46.9% female.
