Oatley is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of New South Wales in Sydney's St George district. It is currently held by Mark Coure of the Liberal Party.

Geography

On its current boundaries, Oatley takes in the suburbs of Connells Point, Hurstville Grove, Kyle Bay, Lugarno, Mortdale, Oatley, Peakhurst, Peakhurst Heights and parts of Beverly Hills, Blakehurst, Hurstville, Narwee, Penshurst, Riverwood and South Hurstville.^[1]

History

Oatley was first created in 1927, with the breakup of the multi-member St George. In 1930, it was abolished and largely replaced by Kogarah. It was recreated for the 2007 election largely replacing the abolished district of Georges River.

In 1920, with the introduction of proportional representation, St George was expanded to a five-member district, absorbing the electoral districts of Canterbury and Hurstville. Proportional representation was abolished in 1927, and St George was divided into the single member electorates of St George, Canterbury, Hurstville, Oatley and Rockdale. St George was abolished in 1930, being partly replaced by Arncliffe.

Mark Joseph Coure is an Australian politician. He is a member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly representing Oatley for the Liberal Party since 2011 and served in the second Perrottet ministry.

Oatley, an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of New South Wales, has had two incarnations, the first from 1927 to 1930, the second from 2007 to the present.

Georges River Council is a local government area located in the St George region of Sydney located south of the Sydney CBD, in New South Wales, Australia. The Council was formed on 12 May 2016 from the merger of the Hurstville City Council and Kogarah City Council.
