The Engine Company 15 Fire Station is located at 8 Fairfield Avenue in Hartford, Connecticut. It was built in 1909, and is one of two surviving firehouses in the city which was built to stable horses. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on March 2, 1989. [1] It presently houses Engine Company 15 and Ladder Company 2 of the Hartford Fire Department.
The Engine Company 15 Fire Station is located in southwestern Hartford, at junction of Fairfield and New Britain Avenues. It is a two-story brick building with Colonial Revival features. It is roughly rectangular in shape, three bays wide, with the leftmost pedestrian entrance bay recessed. The right two bays house equipment, and have rectangular garage door openings. Windows on the second floor are in groups of three, with splayed lintels that have stone keystones. Stone stringcourses run at the top of the first-floor windows and at the bottom of the second-floor windows. A stone panel above the equipment bays is carved with the company identification. The upstairs rooms feature original woodwork, including door and window trim. Wooden doors conceal the slide pole, and the rear of the story contains exposed elements of what originally served as a hay loft. Behind the equipment bays on the ground floor is a kitchen space that is built into what were originally horse stalls. The basement includes an area formerly used for hose drying. [2]
Engine Company 15 was organized in 1909, and this was its first station. It was designed by the Hartford firm of Zunner and Sellew. It has lost a number of its exterior architectural features, particularly around the equipment bay openings, which have been enlarged, and the roof, which used to have a more elaborate cornice. [2]
The Engine House No. 11 is a fire station located at 2737 Gratiot Avenue in Detroit, Michigan. It is the oldest remaining firehouse in the city of Detroit; it was designated a Michigan State Historic Site in 1975 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.
The Elm Street Fire House is a historic fire house at 24 Elm Street in Southbridge, Massachusetts. Built in 1899, it was Southbridge's second fire house to be built in the 1890s, and serves as the fire department headquarters. The station was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.

It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1998. The buildings are located at 402-418 Asylum Street, 28 High Street, and 175-189 Allyn Street, and includes the Batterson Block and Judd and Root Building, each individually listed for their architecture.
The South Green Fire Station, also known as the Engine Company 1 Fire Station, is located at 197 Main St. in downtown Hartford, Connecticut. Built in 1927, it is an architecturally distinctive example of Classical and Collegiate Gothic Revival architecture, designed by a prominent local firm. The station, as well as the former fire equipment maintenance house, which is located behind it at 36 John Street, were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989. The station presently houses Engine Company 1 and Ladder Company 6 of the Hartford Fire Department.
The Engine Company 16 Fire Station, also known as the Blue Hills Fire Station, is located at 636 Blue Hills Avenue in Hartford, Connecticut. Built in 1928, it is one of the city's most architecturally distinctive fire stations, a Tudor Revival structure designed by the local firm of Ebbets & Frid. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on March 2, 1989. It continues to serve its original function, housing Engine Company 16 of the Hartford Fire Department.
The Engine Company 2 Fire Station is a firehouse at the corner of Main and Belden streets in Hartford, Connecticut, United States. It is a brick structure built in the early 20th century, the second firehouse built for the company. Architect Russell Barker, who designed many public buildings in the city, used the Italian Renaissance Revival style, unusual for a firehouse. The front facade boasts intricate brickwork. It is one of two remaining firehouses in the city originally designed to accommodate both men and horses. In 1989, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places along with several other city firehouses. It continues to serve its original function, housing Engine Company 2 of the Hartford Fire Department.
The Engine Company 6 Fire Station is a former Hartford Fire Department firehouse located at 34 Huyshope Avenue in Hartford, Connecticut. Built in 1937, it is a well-preserved example of a Moderne style fire station, and served as such until 1984. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on March 2, 1989. It now houses a homeless shelter.

Built in 1929, it is a distinctive application of the Tudor Revival to firehouse design, and it was one of the city's first "suburban" fire stations, set in an originally less-developed outlying area. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on March 2, 1989. It continues to serve its original function, housing Engine Company 9 of the Hartford Fire Department.
The former Torrington Fire Department Headquarters is a historic building located at 117 Water Street in Torrington, Connecticut. It is located immediately adjacent to the modern headquarters at number 111. Completed in 1901, it is an elegant example of Romanesque Revival architecture, and served as the city's main firehouse until 1980. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on December 31, 1987.
The Bangor Fire Engine House No. 6 is a historic former fire station at 284 Center Street in Bangor, Maine. Built in 1902, it is a high quality local example of Beaux Arts architecture, and is one of a series of important public commissions by local architect Wilfred E. Mansur. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on April 7, 1988.
Fire Barn 5 or Fire Station 5 is a historic building in Elgin, Illinois. It was the fifth official fire barn in Elgin, originally housing horses and a fire fighting carriage. Over the years, the carriage was replaced by automobiles. The building is an example of Classical Revival architecture and operated as a fire station until 1991, the year it was added to the National Register of Historic Places. It now functions as the Elgin Fire Barn No. 5 Museum, a museum of firefighting history.
Engine Company Number Nine Firehouse, also known as the Arbor Street Firehouse, is an historic former firehouse at 17 Arbor street in the North Deering neighborhood of Portland, Maine. It was constructed in 1902-03, shortly after Deering was annexed to Portland. It was built to reflect Portland's commitment to the newly annexed suburb as well as due to the city's switch to a paid fire department. It was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in October 2010. It now houses a commercial business.
The Pierce Block is a historic building in downtown Tulsa, Oklahoma on the northeast corner of Third Street and Detroit Avenue, that was constructed as a hotel in 1909. According to the Tulsa Preservation Commission, it is the oldest remaining post-statehood hotel in Tulsa. Originally it was a few blocks west of the Midland Valley Railroad passenger station, which was at Third and Greenwood Avenue.
83–85 Sigourney Street in Hartford, Connecticut was an Italianate style double brick house. Built in 1865, it was the oldest surviving residential building on the southern part of Sigourney Street in the city's Asylum Hill neighborhood. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979, at a time when there were no known threats to the building. A modern building, housing the former Connecticut Culinary Institute, was built on the site in 1981 and now stands at 85 Sigourney Street; it is the Hartford campus of the Lincoln Culinary Institute, and is part of the Lincoln Group of Schools.
The Former Saco Central Fire Station is a historic fire station at 14 Thornton Avenue in Saco, Maine. Built in 1939 with funding from the Public Works Administration, it was the city's first modern firehouse, designed to house motorized equipment, and outfitted with the latest technology. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2013. The building housed the fire department until 2011, and has since been converted into a mixed-use residential and commercial property.
The Ethan Allen Engine Company No. 4 is a historic former fire and police station at 135 Church Street in Burlington, Vermont. Built in 1887 for a private fire company, it is a fine local example of 19th-century commercial architecture. It served the city as a fire and police station until the 1960s, and is now used as a commercial space. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1971, and is a contributing property to the City Hall Park Historic District.
The Ambassador Apartments are a historic residential complex at 206-210 Farmington Avenue in Hartford, Connecticut. Completed in 1921, it is a significant local example of Renaissance Revival architecture, designed by the prominent local firm of Berenson and Moses. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2008.
The Hyde-St. John House is a historic house at 25 Charter Oak Avenue in Hartford, Connecticut. Built in 1858, it is one of the city's least-altered examples of Italianate architecture, and it was home to prominent local attorney and city mayor William Waldo Hyde. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977, and is presently in commercial use.
The Myers and Gross Building is a historic apartment building at 2 Fraser Place in Hartford, Connecticut. Built in 1917, it is a well-preserved example of Georgian Revival architecture. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.
