As of the census [6] of 2000, there were 265 people, 111 households, and 74 families residing in the town. There were 124 housing units at an average density of 393.3 per square mile (151.9/km2). The racial makeup of the town was 95.85% White, 1.51% Black or African American, 2.26% from other races, and 0.38% from two or more races. 2.64% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There were 111 households, out of which 33.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 49.5% were married couples living together, 8.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 33.3% were non-families. 29.7% of all households were made up of individuals, and 12.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.39 and the average family size was 2.84.
In the town the population was spread out, with 24.9% under the age of 18, 7.2% from 18 to 24, 30.9% from 25 to 44, 24.9% from 45 to 64, and 12.1% who were 65 years of age or older.
