Hamleys, is a British multinational toy retailer, is the oldest and largest in the world, owned by the Indian company Reliance Retail. It was founded by William Hamley as "Noah's Ark" in High Holborn, London, in 1760, it moved to its current site on Regent Street in 1881. This flagship store is set over seven floors, with more than 50,000 lines of toys on sale. It receives around five million visitors each year. The chain has 15 outlets in the United Kingdom and also has more than 90 franchises worldwide.
Spencer Plaza is a shopping mall located on Anna Salai in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India, and is one of the modern landmarks of the city. Originally built during the period of the British Raj and reconstructed in 1985 on the site of the original Spencer's department store, it is the oldest shopping mall in India and was one of the biggest shopping malls in South Asia when it was built. The mall opened in August 2012 with Louis Vuitton as its first store. The mall is designed by DSP architects and built by KKA Buildtech at a cost of ₹10 Crore. It is considered to be the first luxury mall in Chennai, and the third in India. The building is designed to house 24 stores, each with an area ranging from 1600 sq. ft to 2000 sq. ft. Named after an Italian city, the white three storey building is influenced by classical Italian architecture.

The complex was described by The Prague Post in 2001 as "one of the best malls in the city". According to OC Letňany's marketing manager, over 10 million customers visited the shopping centre in 2008.
