The Harmony Grove Church is a church in Lockeford, California. Built in 1859, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2011. [2]
Harmony Grove Church is a rare surviving example of an early Protestant brick church in California's Central Valley. [3] The single-story brick building originally had a flat roof, and was built in Greek Revival style in 1859. A brick pediment was added in 1868, contributing to a Gothic appearance. [4] The 1868 remodeling also raised the roof by 9 feet and replaced the tarpaper with wood shingles. [2]
The name "Harmony Grove" was inspired by New Harmony, Indiana, the hometown of one of the original church members. Intended to be a place of worship for the entire community, it instead became a Methodist church. [4]
After 1918, the building served as a warehouse until it was purchased by Lloyd Dawson, a local developer, in 1965. Plans to demolish the building provoked resistance in the area, resulting in Dawson giving the building and nearly an acre of land to the San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors. [4] The Lockeford-Clements Women's Club undertook renovation of the building, culminating in a rededication ceremony in 1973. [5] A historical marker plaque was added in 1982. [6] The church can be rented for small weddings. [7]

Valley Grove is a historic Lutheran church complex in Wheeling Township, Minnesota, United States. It consists of two 19th-century churches surrounded by a hilltop cemetery. The older building was constructed in stone in 1862 by a rural community of Norwegian immigrants. The congregation outgrew the first church and constructed a larger, wooden replacement in 1894, converting the original building into a guild hall. The property was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982 for its local significance in the themes of architecture, art, and religion. It was nominated for encapsulating two phases of rural ecclesiastical architecture in a dramatic hilltop tableau, and for its role in anchoring eastern Rice County's dispersed community of Norwegian immigrants.
The First Baptist Church is a historic church building in Muskogee, Oklahoma. The church was built in 1903 and was the first church building for the African-American population of Muskogee County. It was built in a Romanesque Revival style. It features two asymmetrical, crenelated towers and a steeply pitched gabled roof. The build is clad in two types of red brick. The two types of brick are separated by a rusticated limestone belt course. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984 for architectural significance and for its importance in local African-American history.

The Locke House and Barn is a home and outbuilding in Lockeford, California that is now the Inn at Locke House. The house, built in 1858, the barn, built in 1852, and the water tower, built in 1887, were the first structures to be listed on the National Register of Historic Places in San Joaquin County, California when the property was added to the National Register in 1972.
