The Parliament of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka is the supreme legislative body of Sri Lanka. It alone possesses legislative supremacy and thereby ultimate power over all other political bodies in the island. It is modeled after the British Parliament. Anura Kumara Dissanayake,commonly referred to by his initials AKD,is a Sri Lankan politician who has been the tenth and current president of Sri Lanka since 2024. Dissanayake is the first Sri Lankan president to be elected in a second round of vote counting,and the first elected president not from Sri Lanka's traditional political parties.

Lakmali Kanchana Hemachandra is a Sri Lankan politician and a member of the National People's Power. she was appointed as a Member of Parliament for National List in 2024 Sri Lankan parliamentary election as a member of the National People's Power. She is a lawyer by profession and is an executive member of NPP Lawyers association in Colombo District. She also worked as the Deputy Chairwoman of the Director Board of Dabindu Collective,a non-profit organization located in the Free Trade Zone (FTZ) of Katunayake,that is concerned about the protection and promotion of women worker rights.
