Hotel Greenfield is a boutique hotel located in Greenfield, Iowa, United States. Designed by architect William Gordon, it was completed in 1920 by the Newton Construction Co. Local boosters had the hotel built for $65,000 as a replacement for the Commercial Hotel, which was located on the same spot. [2] The three-story brick structure features a symmetrical facade, round arched windows on the first floor, a projecting classical entrance with columns in the Doric order, and a denticulated brick cornice. The hotel had become dated by the 1970s, and started to decline in significance. ADCO Enterprises bought it in 2010 and renovated it. They added the adjacent Adair County Democrat-Adair County Free Press Building at the same time. It houses the restaurant, lounge, two hotel suites, and the laundry and housekeeping facilities. The building was individually listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2011. [1] In 2014 it was included as a contributing property in the Greenfield Public Square Historic District. [3]

The Adair County Courthouse is located in Stilwell, Oklahoma and is the central building for the county government for Adair County, Oklahoma. The current building is the fourth building in Stilwell to serve as the courthouse. From 1902 until 1908 a two-story wood-frame schoolhouse served as the courthouse. In 1908 a new brick building was built and was used until 1920 when a building of native stone was built. On December 30, 1929, the new stone building burned down. The current classically inspired, art deco building was built on the same site and was completed in 1930. The building was designed by J. J. Harrelson and was built out of limestone, steel, and concrete. The cornice has molded bas-relief figures of American Indians in full headdress. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984. In 1992 a marble war memorial which contained the names of all Adair County residents killed in World War I, World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War was dedicated on the courthouse lawn.
The Arthur Ebeling House is a historic building located on the west side of Davenport, Iowa, United States. The Colonial Revival house was designed by its original owner, Arthur Ebeling. It was built from 1912 to 1913 and it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

It was individually listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1981 as a part of the County Courthouses in Iowa Thematic Resource. In 2014 it was included as a contributing property in the Greenfield Public Square Historic District. The courthouse is the third structure to house county courts and administration offices.
The Indianapolis City Market is a historic public market located in Indianapolis, Indiana. It was founded in 1821 and officially opened in its current facility in 1886. The market building is a one-story, rectangular brick building trimmed in limestone. It has a front gable center section flanked by square towers. While it was originally a farmers market, it is now a food hall. The Indianapolis City Market also hosted some events for Super Bowl XLVI in Indianapolis.

The Hotel Hurst is a historic building located in Maquoketa, Iowa, United States. It was built in 1897 as the Delmonico Hotel by a group of local investors who desired a first-class hotel in town. The building was constructed towards the end of Maquoketa's financial boom years that had begun with the arrival of the railroad in 1870 and the county seat designation in 1873. The three-story, brick Second Empire style building anchors the southern end of the central business district. It features decorative cast hoodmolds over the windows on the main facade, and a mansard roof. The iron cresting on top of the building is not the original. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989. It has subsequently been converted into an apartment building. The Hotel Hurst Garage, which was located immediately north of the hotel, has been torn down.
Burr Oak Savings Bank – also known as the Burr Oak Post Office – is an historic building located in Burr Oak, Iowa, United States. The free-standing, single-story, brick structure was built in 1910 in the Italianate style. Its primary decorative feature is a panel with corbeled brickwork in a dentil-like pattern, and the bracketed tin cornice above it. In 1931 it suffered a robbery, being the first robbery in Winneshiek County. That same year – as well as in 1941, 1955 and 1967 – the building underwent expansions. After the bank closed, the building was used as a barber shop and the post office, which closed in 1981. In 2014 it became the Visitors Center for the Laura Ingalls Wilder Museum and Park. It is the only building that remains on Burr Oak's main street from a period of economic expansion in early 20th-century Iowa, based on agricultural production and land values. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2001.
Adair County Free Press Building is a historic building located in Greenfield, Iowa, United States. Designed by architect John Karl, it was completed in 1903. The two-story brick structure features an asymmetrical facade with four round arched openings, and a corbelled brick cornice. It was built by Edwin J. Sidey and his father John S. Sidey, who founded the Adair County Democrat in 1889, and was later renamed the Adair County Free Press. Journalist Hugh Sidey was another of John S. Sidey's sons. The building is now a part of the adjacent Hotel Greenfield. It houses the restaurant, lounge, two hotel suites, and the laundry and housekeeping facilities. The building was individually listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2011 as the Adair County Democrat–Adair County Free Press Building. In 2014 it was included as a contributing property in the Greenfield Public Square Historic District.
The Warren Opera House Block and Hetherington Block are historic buildings located in Greenfield, Iowa, United States. They are both 2½-story brick structures. The Opera House block, originally owned by E.E. Warren, is located on the corner and features a corner turret. It housed Warren's dry goods store and a theatre. The adjacent commercial block was originally owned by John J. Heatherington, and is similar in style to the Opera House block. Both buildings feature facades with a tripartite arrangement and center frontispieces that project slightly forward, a broad rock-faced beltcourse that runs above the second floor windows, a narrow metal cornice, and a brick parapet with finials. The Opera House's parapet has a triangular pediment with "Opera House" on a rectangular base, and the Hetherington Block has a similar feature in a simplified form. The buildings were listed together on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979. In 2014 they were included as a contributing property in the Greenfield Public Square Historic District.
Greenfield Public Square Historic District is a nationally recognized historic district located in Greenfield, Iowa, United States. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2014. At the time of its nomination the district consisted of 52 resources, including 42 contributing buildings, one contributing site, six noncontributing buildings, and three noncontributing objects. The historic district covers part of the city's central business district in the center of the original town plat. There is a significant number of one- and two-story, brick, commercial buildings, as well as a few three-story structures. The Commercial Italianate style is dominant. While the vast majority of the buildings are commercial buildings, there are four government buildings in the district: the Adair County Courthouse (1892), public library (1916), city hall (1930), and the municipal light plant (1940). Besides the courthouse, the other buildings that are individually listed on the National Register include Warren Opera House Block and Hetherington Block (1896), Adair County Democrat-Adair County Free Press Building (1903), and the Hotel Greenfield (1920).
Lucas County Courthouse Square Historic District is a nationally recognized historic district located in Chariton, Iowa, United States. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2014. At the time of its nomination the district consisted of 76 resources, including 56 contributing buildings, one contributing site, one contributing structure, three contributing objects, 14 noncontributing buildings, one noncontributing structure, and one noncontributing object. The historic district covers the city's central business district in the original town plat. The buildings were either built or remodeled between 1867 and 1963, and range from one to three stories in height. They all have brick exteriors. Of the older buildings, the commercial Italianate style is dominant.
Chariton Public Library is located in Chariton, Iowa, United States. The Library and Reading Room Association was formed in Chariton in 1879, but it was short-lived. The county superintendent of schools started a teachers' library in the courthouse sometime afterward. By this time the community had a library of 800 volumes. There was an effort by study clubs in town in 1898 to raise money and establish a free public library. The Chariton Federation of Women's Clubs took the lead and opened a library with the books from the courthouse in two rooms above Gibbons Drug Store on the town square. Citizens approved a local tax to support the library the following year.
Hotel Charitone is a historic building located in Chariton, Iowa, United States. Local architect William L. Perkins designed the building in the Neoclassical style. It was his second major commission in town after the Chariton Herald-Patriot Building (1918). Local contractor P.E. Johnson constructed the building. It opened on November 5, 1923, and remained in operation as a hotel with some apartments under various owners. The buildings had fallen into disrepair and was vacant when Hy-Vee, a grocery store chain that had been headquartered in Chariton for years spearheaded the renovation of the building as an act of gratitude for the community's support.
Horace Mann Public School No. 13 is a historic school building located at Indianapolis, Indiana. It was designed by architect Edwin May (1823–1880) and built in 1873. It is a two-story, square plan, Italianate style red brick building. It has an ashlar limestone foundation and a low hipped roof with a central gabled dormer. A boiler house was added to the property in 1918.
Dockery Hotel was a historic hotel located at Kirksville, Adair County, Missouri. It was built in 1891, and was a two-story, U-shaped brick building. It featured an ornate pressed metal second story front facade with unusual corner columns with enlarged capitals and piers. It was destroyed in 1991.
Kirksville Courthouse Square Historic District is a national historic district located at Kirksville, Adair County, Missouri. The district encompasses 10 contributing buildings and 2 contributing objects in the central business district of Kirksville. It developed between 1883 and 1925, and includes representative examples of Italianate, Romanesque Revival, and Classical Revival style architecture. Located in the district is the separately listed Adair County Courthouse. Other notable buildings include the Union Meat Market, Irwin Davis Sheet Metal Company, Baxter-Miller Apartment Building (1925), Ivie's Hotel (1883), and Pickler's Famous Store (1887).
The American House, also known as the American Hotel, Evans Hotel, and Ryan House, is a historic building located in McGregor, Iowa, United States. Ohio native William H. Harding had the three-story structure built in 1854. It is a stone building that is covered with a brick veneer on the upper two floors. McGregor was a river port that immigrants used to get to western Iowa, southern Minnesota and points west. In the early years most people came to town via ferry or packet boats on the Mississippi River. They would leave by horse, stagecoach, wagon or train. The stagecoach departed from in front of the hotel. The ticket office for the railroad, which was located across Main Street, was established in the hotel lobby. An addition was constructed on the southwest side of the original building. The sunrooms were built above it in the 1970s and 1980s. The building was individually listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2001. In 2002 it was listed as a contributing property in the McGregor Commercial Historic District.
