Jetta is a Chinese car marque created by Volkswagen Group with its joint venture partner FAW Group in 2019. The Volkswagen Jetta is a popular car in China,and the model forms the basis of the new company,with two additional SUV models joining the range. [1]
The Jetta cars are built in Chengdu at an FAW-Volkswagen joint venture plant. [2]
At the time when the Jetta brand was introduced,Harald Müller was the company president. [3]
In May 2020,Harald Müller revealed in interviews that there's been interest in the marque brand from outside China. [4] In August 2020,there are plans to potentially export Jetta-branded vehicles outside China,but the company has not disclosed which target markets they want to aim at. [5]
The range consist of the VA3 saloon,the VS5 compact SUV and the VS7 SUV. The cars were designed and developed by Volkswagen in Germany. [6]
While the VA3 is a facelift of the Chinese Volkswagen Jetta (based on the same platform as the SEAT Toledo Mk4),both SUV models,the VS5 and the VS7 are based on the Volkswagen Group compact SUV models including the SEAT Ateca,Škoda Karoq and Volkswagen Tharu. [7] [8]
In 2022,the brand launched a new Brilliant version of the two SUVs.

The Volkswagen Group MQB platform is the company's strategy for shared modular design construction of its transverse,front-engine,front-wheel-drive layout automobiles. It was first introduced in the Volkswagen Golf Mk7 in late 2012. Volkswagen spent roughly $8bn developing this new platform and the cars employing it. The platform underpins a wide range of cars from the supermini class to the mid size SUV class. MQB allows Volkswagen to assemble any of its cars based on this platform across all of its MQB ready factories. This allows the Volkswagen group flexibility to shift production as needed between its different factories. Beginning in 2012,Volkswagen Group marketed the strategy under the code name MQB,which stands for Modularer Querbaukasten,translating from German to "Modular Transversal Toolkit" or "Modular Transverse Matrix". As of April 2021,it is the largest vehicle of the Volkswagen ID. series,and the largest built on the MEB platform.
The Volkswagen Taos is a compact crossover SUV manufactured and marketed by Volkswagen. It was first released in October 2018 as the Volkswagen Tharu in China,while the Taos was released in October 2020 as a restyled version of the Tharu for the North American,South American,and Russian markets. In the brand's lineup,the vehicle is positioned below the Tiguan,and in South America and China above the T-Cross.
