high school located in Somers, New York. It serves 630 students in grades 9–12 from Westchester, Dutchess, Putnam and Fairfield counties and the Bronx. [7]

Known as John F. Kennedy Catholic High School since its inception in 1966, it changed its name to John F. Kennedy Catholic Preparatory School in October 2020. [8]

History

The school was opened as St. Mary's High School in 1928. [9] and had its last graduating class in June 1966.

In September 1966, the school was reopened as John F. Kennedy Catholic High School. The school was dedicated in May 1968, in the presence of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. [10]

In 2014, approximately nine percent of the student body was from China. [11]

The volleyball team was the 2013, 2014, [12] and 2017 [13] CHSAA Class AA champions.

The Catholic High School Athletic Association or CHSAA is a high school athletic association made up of Catholic high schools based in New York City, Long Island, Westchester and Buffalo. It is the largest Catholic high school athletic league in the United States. For schools with football programs the 3 downstate sections compete in the Catholic High School Football League. Their champion plays the MMAA (Buffalo) champion for the Catholic State Championship.

Steven Michael Santini is an American professional ice hockey defenseman who is currently playing for the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League (AHL) while under contract to the Tampa Bay Lightning of the National Hockey League (NHL). He has also played for the New Jersey Devils and the Nashville Predators. He played for the Boston College Eagles men's ice hockey team of the NCAA Hockey East conference. Santini was selected by the New Jersey Devils in the 2nd round of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.

The Catholic Central League (CCL) is a high school athletic conference in district H of the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association. Most league members are schools with Catholic affiliations. The league is based mostly in the eastern part of Massachusetts.
