Kaltim Airlines was an airline in Samarinda, East Kalimantan, Indonesia with its head office located at Samarinda International Airport. The airline's operations included scheduled passenger and cargo services to four destinations, with a fleet of regional aircraft, consisting of British Aerospace 146 and Cessna C208 aircraft. The airline was founded on 17 August 2011 by Awang F. Ishak and Sabri Ramdhani. The airline ceased all operations in 2013.

Samarinda is the capital city of the Indonesian province of East Kalimantan on the island of Borneo. The city lies on the banks of the Mahakam River with a land area of 718 km2 (277 sq mi). Samarinda ranks first on East Kalimantan Human Development Index and it is the most populous city on the entire Borneo island, with a population of 727,500 at the 2010 Census and 827,994 at the 2020 Census.

Temindung Airport(IATA: SRI, ICAO: WALS) was the airport of Samarinda from 1974 until 2018. It was officially known as Samarinda Airport, it was closed and replaced by the new APT Pranoto International Airport at Sungai Siring, 30 kilometres (19 mi) to the north. It is often known as Samarinda Airport, Temindung Airport, or simply Temindung, to distinguish it from its successor which is often referred to as Sungai Siring Airport.

Aji Pangeran Tumenggung Pranoto International Airport, also known as APT Pranoto Airport or Samarinda Airport, is the main airport in Samarinda, the capital city of East Kalimantan, Indonesia. It is in the district of Sungai Siring. The airport is also colloquially known as Sungai Siring Airport, to distinguish it from its predecessor, the now-closed Temindung Airport. The airport is named after Aji Pangeran Tumenggung Pranoto, the first governor of East Kalimantan who was in office from 1957 to 1961.

Xpress Air Former Indonesian Airline

Xpress Air was a domestic regular airline that offered direct flights to the eastern parts of Indonesia, with its first flight in 2005, and from 2014 international routes to Malaysia. Beginning with two Boeing 737s, Xpress Air was the first privately owned, scheduled airline to connect Jakarta to 24 domestic destinations like Makassar, Ternate, Sorong, Manokwari and Jayapura. Makassar was a main hub for all flights coming from Java to the eastern cities of Indonesia, while Sorong was a second hub in Papua, connecting remote places surrounding the West Papua area. The airline ceased all operations in 2021.

2008 Pekan Olahraga Nasional

2008 Pekan Olahraga National or the Indonesia National Games XVII were a major multi-sport event in Indonesia which took place in Samarinda, East Kalimantan, from 5–17 July 2008. A total of 7,946 athletes participated in the biggest-ever Pekan Olahraga Nasional and also the first on the island of Borneo. These games make Samarinda the second city to host Pekan Olahraga Nasional outside of the island of Java and Sumatra, after Makassar hosted the 1957 Pekan Olahraga Nasional.

Balikpapan–Samarinda Toll Road or Balsam Toll Road is an expressway which is constructed to connect Balikpapan with Samarinda of East Kalimantan, Indonesia as well as the proposed new capital city of the country. This is the first expressway in Borneo island, including its Indonesian part. The toll road is 99.3 kilometers (325,787 ft) long. Samboja-Samarinda section of the toll road is inaugurated by President Joko Widodo on 17 December 2019. The toll road is expected to be completed by April 2020.
