Transportation

Private buses are the main mode of mass transportation in Karukaputhur. MR Services and other private operators ply their buses through this point to Pattambi and Nelluvay. The other major semi urban centers near Karukaputhur are Kootanad and Challissery. Karukaputhur is also the nodal point for transportation for Pattambi towards the North, Shoranur, Nelluvay towards the East, Peringode, Chalissery towards the West and the border villages of Trissur district. Its proximity to Trissur district is one of the important factors of this small towns booming growth in recent years.

Religious Centres

Karukaputhur Ekadasi [1] festival is observed annually in Makaram month at the Karukaputhur Sree Narasimha Moorthy Temple. The shrine is located at Karukaputhur in Palakkad District. The temple is around 12 km from Pattambi. Karukaputhur Sree Narasimha Moorthy Temple Ekadasi 2018 date is January 28.This ancient shrine is dedicated to the Narasimha Avatar of Vishnu.The Ekadasi is observed on the Shukla Paksha Ekadasi day in Makaram month.

Special rituals are observed on the day in this ancient shrine. The temple is decorated traditionally with flowers, leaves, coconut fronds, banana leaves and plantain. The ekadasi is observed after the Amavasya in Makaram month. (Shukla Paksha Ekadasi in Makaram month).

The famous Karukaputhur Nercha [2] is observed during January of February month every year. This is also called Karukaputhur Odambulli Jaram Chandanakudam Nercha. This is one of the oldest nercha festivals that occur in Kerala and is of almost 120 years old.

The Biraja Temple, or Birija Kshetra, is a historic Hindu temple located in Jajpur, Odisha, India. The present temple was built during the 13th century. The principal idol is Devi Durga, who is worshiped as Viraja (Girija), and the temple gave Jajpur the nicknames "Viraja Kshetra" and "Biraja Peetha". The Durga idol has two hands (dwibhuja), spearing the chest of Mahishasura with one hand and pulling his tail with the other. One of her feet is on a lion, and the other is on Mahishasura's chest. Mahishasura is depicted as a water buffalo. The idol's crown features Ganesha, a crescent moon and a lingam. The temple covers a large area, and has several shrines to Shiva and other deities. According to the Skanda Purana it cleanses pilgrims, and it is called the Viraja or the Biraja kshetra. Jajpur is believed to have about one crore of Shiva lingams.

Kodungallur Bhagavathy Temple

Sree Kurumba Bhagavati Temple is a Hindu temple at Kodungallur, Thrissur District, Kerala state, India. It is dedicated to the goddess Bhadrakali, a form of Mahakali or simply Durga or Aadi Parashakthi worshipped and significantly revered in Kerala. The goddess is known also by the names "Sri Kurumba"". This temple is the head of 64 Bhadrakali temples in Kerala especially Malabar. This Mahakali temple is one of the oldest functioning temples in India. This is attested by numerous Tamil poems and inscriptions of different times. The goddess of the temple represents the goddess in her fierce ('ugra') form, facing North, featuring eight hands with various attributes. One is holding the head of the demon king Daruka, another a sickle-shaped sword, next an anklet, another a bell, among others. Routine worship at the temple every day at 03:00 and ends at 21:00 local time.

Irumkulangara Durga Bhagavathi Temple is a Hindu temple in Thottam, Manacaud, Manacaud P.O, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India. It is about 1.8 kilometres to the southwest of Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple in Thiruvananthapuram city.

The Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Temple is the foremost temple of Gowda Saraswatha Brahmins in and around Thalassery.

The Chinakkathoor Pooram is an elephant pageant which is held annually at the sacred Sree Chinakkathoor Bhagavathy Temple, at Palappuram in Palakkad district in north Kerala. A huge procession of 27 festooned tuskers is the highlight of the festival. The festival is celebrated in Kumbham month of Malayalam calendar.

Tali Shiva Temple or Tali Mahakshetram is a Hindu temple dedicated to the deity Shiva, situated in the heart of the Kozhikode city, Kerala. The temple was built in the 14th Century by Zamorin of Calicut.I Reuben Subhash annotations by Shiva as a samurin on 16.4.2022, in Kottayam, Kerala.Tali Kshetram is an ancient temple in the heart of Kozhikode town. Shiva is the presiding deity. The Jyothirlingam in the Sanctum Sanctorum is believed to have been installed by Parasuraman. The temple is one km to the east of Kozhikode railway station. It is surrounded by the Palayam market. This was the family temple of the Zamorins who had ruled Kozhikode. Although the temple is now under Malabar Devaswom, the Zamorin is the managing trustee. The temple is built in traditional Kerala architectural style. The two-storied sanctum-sanctorum is in the shape of a chariot. It is adorned with murals and granite sculptures of Shiva’s retinue. Inside Sree Kovil deities of Tali Ganapathy, Thevarathil Ganapathy and Thrumandhakunnu Bhagavathy are installed. Sree Krishna, Thevarathil Bhagavathy, Ayyappa, Sri Vishnu and Nagam are installed outside Shiva Temple. Sree Valayanad Bhagavati idol is installed inside Sree Krishna Temple. There is a small Narasimha Moorthy temple on the southern side of the Sri Vishnu Temple.

Kodumunda is a small village in Muthuthala and Parudur gramapanchayath, Pattambi Taluk, Palakkad district Kerala. It is a minor trading center in Muthuthala Panchayath. The portions of Kodumunda in Parudur Panchayath are called west Kodumunda. The only railway station in Muthuthala is situated in Kodumunda and is home to four significant temples: Muthassiyarkavu, Cheruneerkara Shiva Temple, Manniyampathoor Saraswathi temple, and Madayil lakshminarasimha temple. Muthassiyarkavu thalapoli and Kodumunda nercha are the major festivals in this village.
