The Labour Progressive Federation is a trade union federation in Tamil Nadu, India. The LPF is politically attached to the ruling Tamil Nadu party Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam. [2]

According to provisional statistics from the Ministry of Labour, LPF had a membership of 611,506 in 2002. [3]

The Workers Progressive Union "WPU" represents NLC workers of India.

It is headed by All India Secretary & General Secretary Thiru. Rajavannian S.

Employees Progressive Union "EPU" represents BHEL workers of India. It is headed by Thiru. P Sathish Kumar No 1 Vice President.

Telecom Employees Progressive Union "TEPU" represents BSNL workers of India. It is headed by V.Subburaman All India Secretary & General Secretary TEPU.

National Progressive Defence Employees Federation is a joint venture of LPF & TUCC

Thozhilalar Munnetra Sangam, Padaithurai Udaithozhirsalai, is a recognized Union. Thiru. V.Veluswamy is the President and Thiru. A, Mohd Meera is the General Secretary.

All India General Labour Progressive Union represents Un-Organised Sector Labours of India. It is headed by Thiru. T. K. Thamizh Nenjam, All India General Secretary, All India General Labour Progressive Union.

The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam is an Indian political party based in the state of Tamil Nadu, where it is currently the ruling party, and the union territory of Puducherry, where it is currently the main opposition.

Trade unions in India are registered and file annual returns under the Trade Union Act (1926). The Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam is an Indian regional political party in the state of Tamil Nadu. It is a Dravidian party founded by the former leader of the opposition in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Vijayakant (Captain) at Madurai on 14 September 2005. The party was led by its founder until 14 December 2023 from its date of founding. From 14 December 2023, the DMDK is led by Vijayakant's wife Premalatha Vijayakant as general secretary of the party. The party served as the main opposition party in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly from 27 May 2011 to 21 February 2016. The eleventh legislative assembly election of Tamil Nadu was held on 2 May 1996. The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) led front won the election and its leader M. Karunanidhi, became the chief minister. This was his fourth term in office. S. Balakrishnan, also known as So. Balakrishnan, of Tamil Maanila Congress, became the Leader of the Opposition. The incumbent All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) government was defeated in a landslide with its general secretary and outgoing chief minister J. Jayalalithaa losing the election from the Bargur constituency. She became the first Incumbent Chief Minister since M. Bakthavatsalam in 1967 to lose her own constituency.

The seventh legislative assembly election to Tamil Nadu was held on 28 May 1980. The election was held two years before the end of the term of M. G. Ramachandran administration, as it was dissolved for the failure of state machinery by the then President of India Neelam Sanjiva Reddy. Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam allied with the Indian National Congress (Indira) and All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam with Janata Party. Despite their landslide victory of 37 out of 39 seats at the general election in January 1980, DMK and Indira Congress failed to win the legislative assembly election. AIADMK won the election and its leader and incumbent Chief Minister MGR was sworn in as Chief Minister for the second time.

Natham R. Viswanathan is an Indian politician and deputy general secretary of All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam. He is a member of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly from Natham Constituency. He was the Minister for Electricity and Prohibition and Excise, Govt. of Tamil Nadu. Previously, he was elected to the Tamil Nadu legislative assembly as an Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam candidate from Natham constituency in 1999 after the death of then legislative member of Natham, M. Andi Ambalam. He has won consecutively in 2001, 2006 and 2011 elections in a landslide vote count and has a cult following.

Kaveripattinam Poongavanam Munusamy is an Indian politician and deputy general secretary of AIADMK and incumbent member of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly from Krishnagiri Constituency. Munusamy completed his Bachelor of Arts from Govt. Arts College, Krishnagiri during 1971-1974 and later graduated Bachelor of Law from Government Law College, Chennai. He was a Minister for Municipal Administration and Rural Development in the Government of Tamil Nadu.

R. M. Veerappan is an Indian politician, an early Dravidian Leader, and a movie producer and screenwriter from the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. He is the founder and leader of the MGR Kazhagam party. He served as a Cabinet Minister in five governments from 1977 to 1996, is a three-time Member of Legislative Council and a two-time member of the Legislative Assembly. He was the Leader of the House for Legislative Assembly and Leader of ADMK party of the Legislative Council. He was the architect behind the ADMK organization, unified the MGR fan clubs for the party formation. He was called as the 'Chanakya' of AIADMK politics in the 70's and 80's.

K. A. Jayapal is an Indian politician and was a member of the 14th Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly from Nagapattinam constituency. He represented the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) party.

V. P. Kalairajan is an Indian politician and was a member of the 13th and 14th Tamil Nadu Legislative Assemblies from the Theagaraya Nagar constituency in Chennai district. He represented the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) party. Now, he is a member of DMK.

S. Kamaraj is an Indian politician and was a member of the 14th Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly from the Krishnarayapuram constituency, which is reserved for candidates from the Scheduled Castes. He represented the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam party.

S. Gunasekaran is an Indian politician and a former Member of the Legislative Assembly of Tamil Nadu from Sivaganga constituency.
