Munisamy Thambidurai (born 15 March 1947) is an Indian politician who served as the Deputy Speaker of the Lok Sabha [1] and leader of All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) in the Lok Sabha,the lower house of the Indian Parliament. [2] He had served as the Cabinet Minister of Law,Justice and Company Affairs and as the Minister of State of Surface Transport from March 1998 to April 1999. He had also served as the Deputy Speaker of the Lok Sabha from 1985 to 1989. [3]
Thambidurai started his political career as a youth worker and student activist of the erstwhile united DMK in 1965 at the age of 18,when he was in the first year as a student of Madras Christian College. He participated in the anti-Hindi agitation of 1965 and courted arrest. He worked his way up in the Party as a hard working organizer,starting as a worker at the booth level for Municipal and Legislative Assembly polls in 1967 and 1971 for the DMK,and also as an Agitprop coordinator in universities and colleges. He was among the founding-members and first generation of the AIADMK in 1972 when the party split with M.G. Ramachandran. He became an MLA from Erode in 1977,and was first elected as a Member of Parliament to the 8th Lok Sabha in 1984 from Karur (Lok Sabha constituency),Dharmapuri and was subsequently elected to the 9th Lok Sabha,12th Lok Sabha,15th Lok Sabha and 16th Lok Sabha. Also he was elected during Tamil Nadu assembly 2001,2006 Bargur (state assembly constituency) . He also served as minister of Education,Technical Education,Science and Technology,Sports and Youth Welfare,Archeology,Tamil Development and Tamil Culture,Indian Overseas,Refugees and Evacuees. He was portfolio during jayalaitha 2001 cabinet.
Thambidurai contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Karur (Lok Sabha constituency) in Tamil Nadu and was subsequently elected as a member of the Indian Parliament. He had been serving as the leader of AIADMK in the Lok Sabha since 2009. He lost in the general elections in 2019 to Jothimani.

Dr.M.Thambidurai belongs to a Kongu Velalar community which is a majority in the western Districts of Tamil Nadu which comprises the districts of Coimbatore,Tiruppur,Erode,Karur. He is member of the Trust of Adhiyamaan Educational and Research Institutions,Chennai;St.Peter's Institute of Higher Education and Research Chennai;Lakshmi Sarawathi Educational Trust,Chennai;Kovai Kalaimagal Educational Trust which is managed by his wife Dr. T. Maruthur Gopalan Ramachandran,popularly known by his initials M.G.R.,was an Indian actor,politician,and philanthropist who served as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu from 1977 until his death in 1987. He was the founder and first general secretary of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam. On 19 March 1988,Ramachandran was posthumously awarded the Bharat Ratna,India's highest civilian honour. Ramachandran is regarded as one of the most influential politicians of post-independence India.

Thalikkottai Rajuthevar Baalu,better known as T. R. Baalu,is an Indian politician. Baalu did his B.Sc. from New College,Chennai at Madras University and his diploma in drafting engineering drawings from Central Polytechnic,Chennai. He is currently the MP of Lok Sabha of the Sriperumbudur constituency,elected five times since 1996 from Chennai South and Sriperumbudur. He is a leader of the DMK party and is known for his political loyalty,having been in the party since 1957. He is now the Treasurer of DMK,elected unopposed on 3 September 2020. He earlier served as the Principal Secretary of the DMK Party from August 2018 to January 2020.
The thirteenth legislative assembly election,of Tamil Nadu was held on 8 May 2006. It was held for all 234 constituencies to elect the government in the state for the following five years. The votes were counted three days later on 11 May 2006 and all the results were out by the end of the day. The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam-led (DMK) front won the elections,with the DMK emerging as the single-largest party with 96 seats,and its leader,M Karunanidhi was sworn in as Chief Minister for a fifth and final term. This election marked the first time the state saw a hung assembly with no party gaining a majority of its own. As a result,DMK formed a minority government with its allies,which is the first in the state since the 1952 election. 13th Assembly was instituted due to this election.
Subburaman Thirunavukkarasar is an Indian politician. He was the State President of Tamil Nadu Congress Committee till 2 February 2019 and former secretary of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) of the Indian National Congress (INC) party. His introduction to politics in 1977 was facilitated by former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu,M. G. Ramachandran. Ramachandran founded the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) in 1972 and was facing his first elections for the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly election in 1977. He identified Thirunavukkarasar,a lawyer by profession,to contest the Aranthangi assembly constituency. Thirunavukkarasar won the seat,aged 27,and was elected as the Deputy Speaker of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly. He continued in that capacity till 1980. Subsequently,he served as Tamil Nadu state minister from 1980 to 1987 in the MGR cabinet,holding portfolios that included Industries,Housing Board,Excise and Handlooms. Later,he became a member of the Lok Sabha –the lower house of the Parliament of India –when he won the erstwhile Pudukottai Lok Sabha constituency. He served as Union Minister of state for shipping and later for telecommunications and information technology.

K. Gopal is an Indian doctor and politician. He obtained a M.B.B.S degree from Thanjavur Medical College. Gopal was a Member of the Legislative Assembly from Nannilam 1991 to 1996. In 2014 he was elected to the Lok Sabha from the Nagapattinam as an Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam candidate in the 2014 election. He won the seat with 46.06% and was elected Member of Parliament for Nagapattinam for 16th Lok Sabha.

Jothimani Sennimalai,also known mononymously as Jothimani,is an Indian politician,writer,and social worker. A member of the Indian National Congress,she was elected to the Lok Sabha from Karur,Tamil Nadu in 2019. Having joined politics at a young age,Jothimani served separate terms as the General Secretary and Vice President of Indian Youth Congress and Tamil Nadu Youth Congress respectively.
The 2019 elections for Tamil Nadu's 39 seats in the 17th Lok Sabha were held on 18 April,in the second phase of the 2019 Indian general elections. The alliance led by the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam,won a landslide victory,taking 38 of the 39 seats.

Stalin became the eighth Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu,and the 12th Chief Minister since the 1956 reorganization. He replaced Edappadi K. Palaniswami of the AIADMK.
