H. V. Hande (born 28 November 1927) is an Indian medical practitioner and a politician. He was elected to the Tamil Nadu legislative assembly from Park Town constituency as a Swatantra Party candidate in the 1967 and 1971 elections. [1] [2] He is known as 'ever genial Mangalorian' because of his ancestral roots in Mangalore. [3]
In the 1980 elections,Hande stood from the Anna Nagar constituency as a candidate of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and lost by a margin of 699 votes to M. Karunanidhi. He also contested in the 2006 elections from Anna Nagar as a candidate of the Bharatiya Janata Party [4] but could only garner 9000 votes. He was National Council member of Bharatiya Janata Party in 2004. [5]
He is also a writer having written books on Ramayana,Dr. Ambedkar and other topics. [6] [7] He has opened Hande Hospitals in 1984 at Shenoy Nagar,Chennai. [8]
Maruthur Gopalan Ramachandran,popularly known by his initials M.G.R.,was an Indian actor,politician,and philanthropist who served as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu from 1977 until his death in 1987. He was the founder and first general secretary of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam. On 19 March 1988,Ramachandran was posthumously awarded the Bharat Ratna,India's highest civilian honour.
The Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam is an Indian regional political party in the state of Tamil Nadu. It is a Dravidian party founded by the former leader of the opposition in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Vijayakant (Captain) at Madurai on 14 September 2005. The thirteenth legislative assembly election,of Tamil Nadu was held on 8 May 2006. It was held for all 234 constituencies to elect the government in the state for the following five years. The votes were counted three days later on 11 May 2006 and all the results were out by the end of the day. The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam-led (DMK) front won the elections,with the DMK emerging as the single-largest party with 96 seats,and its leader,M Karunanidhi was sworn in as Chief Minister for a fifth and final term. This election marked the first time the state saw a hung assembly with no party gaining a majority of its own. As a result,DMK formed a minority government with its allies,which is the first in the state since the 1952 election. 13th Assembly was instituted due to this election.
Subburaman Thirunavukkarasar is an Indian politician. He was the State President of Tamil Nadu Congress Committee till 2 February 2019 and former secretary of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) of the Indian National Congress (INC) party. His introduction to politics in 1977 was facilitated by former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu,M. G. Ramachandran. Ramachandran founded the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) in 1972 and was facing his first elections for the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly election in 1977. He identified Thirunavukkarasar,a lawyer by profession,to contest the Aranthangi assembly constituency. Thirunavukkarasar won the seat,aged 27,and was elected as the Deputy Speaker of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly. He continued in that capacity till 1980. Subsequently,he served as Tamil Nadu state minister from 1980 to 1987 in the MGR cabinet,holding portfolios that included Industries,Housing Board,Excise and Handlooms. Later,he became a member of the Lok Sabha –the lower house of the Parliament of India –when he won the erstwhile Pudukottai Lok Sabha constituency. He served as Union Minister of state for shipping and later for telecommunications and information technology.
Tholkappiyan Thirumavalavan,better known as Thol. Thirumavalavan is a political leader,scholar and activist from the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu. He is a Member of Parliament from Chidambaram. Founder and President of Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi. He rose to prominence in the 1990s as a Dalit leader,and formally entered politics in 1999. His political platform centres on ending caste-based discrimination and consequently the caste system. He has also expressed support for Tamil nationalist movements in Sri Lanka.
Government Kilpauk Medical College (GKMC) is a government medical institution in Chennai,India. Founded in 1960,there are four hospitals attached to GKMC - Government Kilpauk Medical College Hospital. They are Government Royapettah Hospital,Government Thiruvotteeswarar Hospital of Thoracic Medicine,Government Peripheral Hospital,K.K.Nagar and Government Peripheral Hospital,Anna Nagar. The college is affiliated to The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University,Chennai. It offers a number of undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
By-elections to nine state assembly constituencies were held in Tamil Nadu,in four separate phases. Election for Thirumangalam was held on 9 January and for Bargur,Thondamuthur,Ilayankudi,Cumbum,and Srivaikuntam constituencies on 18 August. Also,election took place for Vandavasi and Tiruchendur constituency on 19 December 2009 and finally for Pennagaram constituency on 27 March 2010. Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) defeated All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) in Thirumangalam in the first phase and kept the winning momentum in the following general election.

Sathyavani Muthu was an Indian politician and an influential leader from Chennai,Tamil Nadu. She was a Member of the Legislative Assembly of Tamil Nadu,Rajya Sabha member and Union Minister. She began her political career as a member of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam,began her own party,Thazhthapattor Munnetra Kazhagam and later joined the Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam. In late 1990s,she again joined in DMK.
E. Madhusudhanan was a politician from the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.
V. S. Chandralekha is an Indian politician and former civil servant,who was the President of the Tamil Nadu state unit of the Janata Party,which merged into the Bharatiya Janata Party on 11 August 2013. M. G. Ramachandran had appointed her as probably the state's second woman collector,after Anna Rajam Malhotra of the 1951 batch. The latter was the first female IAS Officer and Collector in the country.

C. P. Radhakrishnan is an Indian politician who is the 10th and current Governor of Jharkhand since 2023. He was the member of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and was elected to the Lok Sabha twice from Coimbatore. He was also the former state president of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Tamil Nadu. Till recently he was the National Executive Member of the Bharatiya Janata Party and was appointed the Kerala BJP Prabhari (In-Charge) by the party's high command. He was Chairman of the All India Coir Board from 2016 to 2019,which comes under the Ministry of Micro,Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME).
Tamilisai Soundararajan is an Indian politician serving as the 2nd and current Governor of Telangana,and is the Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry since 18 February 2021. She was the National Secretary and Tamil Nadu State Unit President of the BJP prior to this appointment.

Vanathi Srinivasan (/ʋaːnati/) is an Indian politician and a lawyer. She has practiced law in Madras High Court since 1993. She is a member of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly from Coimbatore South constituency. She currently serves as National President of the Women's Wing of the Bharatiya Janata Party.

The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) won the election,ending the decade-long reign of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK). The DMK's leader M. K. Stalin became the eighth Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu,and the 12th Chief Minister since the 1956 reorganization. He replaced Edappadi K. Palaniswami of the AIADMK.
2022 Tamil Nadu urban local body elections,to the Local civic bodies in Tamil Nadu were held in urban areas in the month of February 2022. The Greater Chennai Corporation,alongside 20 other municipal corporations of Tamil Nadu,went to polling on 19 February 2022 to elect councillors to represents the wards in the respective cities;the elected councillors will choose a mayor from amongst themselves.
