Balswarup Chaubey was an Indian nephrologist and medical academic. [1] A Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of London, [2] Chaubey was the retired dean of Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) Nagpur [3] and had served as the secretary of the Maharashtra State Medical Teachers Association. [4]

Born on 2 June 1934 at Washim in the western Indian state of Maharashtra to Kesar and Bal Mukund Chaubey, a police officer, Chaubey did his schooling at English High School, Nagpur and graduated in medicine from the Government Medical College, Nagpur. [2] After specializing in Nephrology, he started his career at his alma mater as a lecturer and rose in ranks to become the Dean of the Department of Medicine of the college as well as Nagpur University in 1982, holding positions as a reader (1963–68), as an associate professor (1968–72), and as a professor and the head of the department (1972–82). [2] He superannuated from the institution in 1992. The Government of India awarded him the fourth highest civilian honour of the Padma Shri, in 2009, for his contributions to Medicine. [5]

Chaubey was married to Pramila and the couple had a son, Sameer Chaubey, who is a practicing nephrologist, [6] and two daughters, Sarika and Swatee. [3] He died on 20 November 2011 succumbing to the complications developed from a chest infection. [2]

Mohan Kameswaran is an Indian otorhinolaryngologist, medical academic and the founder of MERF Institute of Speech and Hearing, a Chennai-based institution providing advanced training in audiology and speech-language pathology. He is one of the pioneers of cochlear implant surgery in India and a visiting professor at Rajah Muthiah Medical College of the Annamalai University and Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Institute, Chennai. Shyam Narayan Arya is an Indian physician, writer and the former National Professor and dean of the College of General practitioners of the Indian Medical Association (IMA_GP). He has published several medical papers and monographs, has contributed chapters to books published by others and has delivered keynote addresses in many medical conferences. D. S. Rana is an Indian nephrologist and the Chairman of the Department of Nephrology at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi, known for his proficiency in renal transplant procedures. Born in Dasmal, Hamirpur in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh, he graduated in medicine from the Indira Gandhi Medical College, Shimla and did his advanced training in clinical nephrology at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh. He is an international scholar of the Cleveland Clinic, Ohio and is a member of the Board of Management of the Sir Ganga Ram Hospital. Parvati Education and Health Society, an organization founded by Rana operates a small 5-bedded hospital in his native village of Dasmal for the rural poor. The Government of India awarded him the fourth highest civilian honour of the Padma Shri in 2009, for his contributions to Medicine. He is the first Himachal pradesh resident awarded Padam shri.

Indu Bhushan Sinha is an Indian nephrologist and medical academic from the Indian state of Bihar. He is a former professor and head of the department of nephrology at Patna Medical College and Hospital. He has served as the editor of The Patna Journal of Medicine of the Indian Medical Association (1986–89) and is a life member of the Indian Society of Nephrology. The Government of India awarded him the fourth highest civilian honour of the Padma Shri, in 2008, for his contributions to medical science.

Digambar Behera is a doctor from Cuttack, Odisha, India. His specialization is in pulmonary diseases. In 2020, he received the Padma Shri honour from the Government of India for his contribution to the field of medicine.
