Pukhraj Bafna is an Indian pediatrician and adolescent health consultant, known for his contributions towards tribal child and adolescent health. [1] The Government of India honored Bafna in 2011, with the fourth highest civilian award of Padma Shri. [2] [3]
Pukhraj Bafna was born on 14 November 1946 [1] at Rajnandgaon, in the Indian state of Chhattisgarh. [4] He graduated in medicine (MBBS) in 1969 from Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Medical College, Jabalpur and continued his studies there to obtain the medical degrees of DCh (1972) and MD (1973) in pediatrics. [1] [5] He has also obtained a doctoral degree from Jain Vishva Bharati University, Ladnun. [1] [5]
Bafna is credited with a book, Status of Tribal Child Health in India. He has also been writing health column for over 40 years (since 1973) in Sabera Sanket, [6] [7] a Hindi language newspaper. [1] He has also attended several seminars and has chaired many conferences. [1]
Pukhraj Bafna has conducted over 500 child health camps and has supported 149 orphaned children in Bastar whose parents lost their lives due to militancy in the area. [1] He lives in Rajnandgaon, Chhattisgarh. [8]
Pukhraj Bafna is a recipient of the National C. T. Thakkar Award of the Indian Medical Association in 1978 and the Becon International Award in 1986. [1] He has also received the Mahaveer Mahatma Award from the Times of India group and the Academic Excellence Award from the Indian Academy of Pediatrics, both in 2004. [1] Jain Vishva Bharati University Rajasthan and the Government of Kerala have honored Bafna with citations. In 2011, The Government of India included him in the list of Republic day honours for the award of Padma Shri. [1] [2] [4]

Krishnaswami Srinivas Sanjivi (1903–1994) was an Indian medical doctor, Gandhian, social worker and the founder of Voluntary Health Services (VHS), a medical facility in Chennai reported to be serving the lower and middle-class people of the society. He was honoured by the Government of India in 1971 with Padma Shri, the fourth highest Indian civilian award. Five years later, the government followed it up by awarding him the third highest civilian award of Padma Bhushan in 1976.

Lala Suraj Nandan Prasad (1914–2009) was an Indian pediatrician and a former professor of pediatrics of the Patna Medical College and Hospital whose efforts were reported behind the establishment of the department of pediatrics and the development of the children's ward into a 250 bedded Children's Hospital at the institution. He was the founder president of the Indian Academy of Pediatrics when the organization was formed in 1964 though the merger of erstwhile Indian Pediatric Society and the Association of Pediatricians of India. The Government of India awarded him the fourth highest Indian civilian award of Padma Shri in 1974.
Raj Baveja is an Indian gynecologist, obstetrician and the former head of the department of gynecology and obstetrics at the Motilal Nehru Medical College, Allahabad. She also serves as the honorary Medical Superintendent of the Kamla Nehru Memorial Hospital, Allahabad. She hails from the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh and is the author several medical papers on adolescent gynecology, pregnancy and child birth management. She has assisted a working group on Care in Normal Birth of the World Health Organization. and headed an Indian Council of Medical Research task force on contraception in 2000. She is an elected fellow of the National Academy of Medical Sciences, and the Government of India awarded her the fourth highest Indian civilian honour of Padma Shri in 1983.

He is one of the well known scientists, who has closely worked with Abdul Kalam, former President of India.

Govind Ram Nirmalkar (1935–2014) was an Indian actor and folk theatre artist, known for his contributions to the Nacha folk theatre of Chhattisgarh. His portrayal of the protagonist in Charan Das Chor, an award winning play by Habib Tanveer, won him critical acclaim. The Government of India awarded him the fourth highest civilian honour of the Padma Shri, in 2009, for his contributions to Arts. He was also a recipient of the 2012 Sangeet Natak Akademi Award.
Shantilal Chhaganlal Sheth (1912–1990) was an Indian pediatrician and the president of several medical institutions including the Medical Council of India, the apex body for matters related to medical administration and education in India. An honorary surgeon commander at the Indian Navy, he served as the honorary physician to the President of India. The Government of India awarded him the third highest civilian honour of the Padma Bhushan, in 1972, for his contributions to medicine.
Kamal Kumar Sethi is an Indian cardiologist, medical academic and administrator, known for the performance of the first catheter ablation in India. He is the chairman and managing director of Delhi Heart and Lung Institute and a former president of the Cardiological Society of India and the Indian Society of Electrocardiology. He is a recipient of several honors including the Legend in Cardiology Award of the Delhi Medical Association and Andrew Gruentzig Distinguished Interventional Cardiologist Award of the Cardiovascular Society of India. The Government of India awarded him the fourth highest civilian honour of the Padma Shri, in 2006, for his contributions to medical science.
Damodar Ganesh Bapat was an Indian social worker known for his service to the leprosy patients at Bhartiya Kushta Nivarak Sangh (BKNS) in Janjgir–Champa district, Chhattisgarh, India. In 2018, the Government of India awarded him the Padma Shri, India's fourth highest civilian award, in recognition of his social work. He was also awarded the Chhattisgarh Rajya Alankar by the state of Chhattisgarh.
Ravindra Jain was an Indian music composer, lyricist and playback singer. He started his career in the early 1970s, composing for hit movies such as Chor Machaye Shor (1974), Geet Gaata Chal (1975), Chitchor (1976) and Ankhiyon Ke Jharokhon Se (1978). He composed music for many films and TV shows based on Hindu epics, including Ramanand Sagar's Ramayan (1987). He was awarded the Padma Shri, the fourth-highest civilian award of the Republic of India in 2015 for his contribution to arts.
