Viswanathan Shanta was an Indian oncologist and the chairperson of Adyar Cancer Institute, Chennai. Devi Prasad Shetty is an Indian entrepreneur and cardiac surgeon who is the chairman and founder of Narayana Health, a chain of 21 medical centers in India. He has performed more than 100,000 heart operations. In 2004 he was awarded the Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award, followed by the Padma Bhushan in 2012, the third highest civilian award by the Government of India for his contribution to the field of affordable healthcare.

Sengamedu Srinivasa Badrinath was an Indian ophthalmologist who was the founder and chairman emeritus of Sankara Nethralaya, one of India's largest charitable eye hospitals. He was an elected fellow of the National Academy of Medical Sciences. He received the Padma Bhushan, the third-highest civilian award in the Republic of India in 1996. He also received many other awards, including Padma Shri and the Dr. B. C. Roy Award.
Ashok Panagariya was an Indian neurologist, medical researcher and academic, known for his research on nerve cells and neuromyotonia. He was a vice chancellor of Rajasthan University of Health Sciences, Jaipur and a member of the Planning Board of the Government of Rajasthan. He was a recipient of the Dr. B. C. Roy Award, the highest Indian award in the medical category. Dr. Ashok Panagariya was awarded the fourth highest Indian civilian award of Padma Shri by the Government of India in 2014. He died on 11 June 2021 due to COVID-19 complications.
Dr. G. Bakthavathsalam is the chairman and the managing trustee of Dharmaveera K Govindaswamy Naidu Medical Trust, which runs the K.G. Hospital in Coimbatore, India. He was awarded a Padma Shri in 2005. Dr GB, as he is fondly known as, was born on 5 April 1942 at Annur village of Coimbatore district and graduated with a Masters of Science from Madras Medical College. He then received his post graduate training in surgery at the Mount Sinai Hospital in Chicago (USA).
S. Ramakrishnan is the founder president of Amar Seva Sangam, Ayikudi, Tamil Nadu, India. He is known for his contributions to the field of rehabilitation for persons with disabilities. Ramakrishnan was awarded the civilian honour, Padma Shri, by Government of India for the year 2020.
T. V. Devarajan, is an Indian medical doctor and general physician. The Government of India honoured him, in 2013, by awarding him the Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award, for his contributions to the field of medicine.
Krishan Kumar Aggarwal was an Indian physician and senior cardiologist who was President of the Confederation of Medical Association of Asia and Oceania (CMAAO), President of the Heart Care Foundation of India and the Past National President of Indian Medical Association. Vallalarpuram Sennimalai Natarajan is an Indian geriatric physician, considered by many as the Father of Geriatric Medicine in India and known to be the first Indian Professor in the discipline. He was honored by the Government of India, in 2012, with the fourth highest Indian civilian award of Padma Shri.
Krishnaswami Srinivas Sanjivi (1903–1994) was an Indian medical doctor, Gandhian, social worker and the founder of Voluntary Health Services (VHS), a medical facility in Chennai reported to be serving the lower and middle-class people of the society. He was honoured by the Government of India in 1971 with Padma Shri, the fourth highest Indian civilian award. Five years later, the government followed it up by awarding him the third highest civilian award of Padma Bhushan in 1976.
Kadiyala Ramachandra (1919-2007) was an Indian medical doctor, poet, a former superintendent of the Government General Hospital, Chennai and a former head of the department of medicine at Madras Medical College. His efforts were reported behind the establishment of the Department of Oncology & Cancer Chemotherapy and the Rheumatic Care Unit at the General Hospital. He was a recipient of the fourth highest Indian civilian award of Padma Shri in 1974.
Nagarur Gopinath was an Indian surgeon and one of the pioneers of cardiothoracic surgery in India. He is credited with the first successful performance of open heart surgery in India which he performed in 1962. He served as the honorary surgeon to two Presidents of India and was a recipient of the fourth highest Indian civilian award of Padma Shri in 1974 and Dr. B. C. Roy Award, the highest Indian medical award in 1978 from the Government of India.
C. U. Velmurugendran is an Indian neurologist, medical writer and the chairman and head of the Department of Neurology at the Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Institute, Chennai. He is an honorary professor at the Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences, Tirupati and has contributed chapters to books including Diseases of the Spinal Cord, published in 2012. The Government of India awarded him the fourth highest civilian honour of the Padma Shri, in 2008, for his contributions to medicine.
Thoguluva Shesadri Chandrasekar is an Indian gastroenterologist and the founder chairman of Medindia Hospitals, a healthcare facility based in Chennai. He is credited with the performance of over 23,000 endoscopy procedures and is known for the Braille chart on personal hygiene he prepared in 2015 for the visually impaired people. The Government of India awarded him the fourth highest civilian honour of the Padma Shri, in 2016, for his contributions to medicine.
Arjunan Rajasekaran is an Indian urologist and one of the pioneers of male infertility therapy in India. He is a former Professor and Head of the Department of Urology at the Madras Medical College, the founder of Madras Andrology and Assisted Reproduction Research Centre, a Chennai-based male infertility clinic, and a recipient of Dr. B. C. Roy Award, the highest Indian award in the medical category. He heads the National Board of Examinations as its president, the highest academic position in the medical sector in India. The Government of India awarded him the fourth highest civilian honour of the Padma Shri, in 2008, for his contributions to medical science.
