Raman Kapur is an Indian medical acupuncturist, author and the president of the Indian Society of Medical Acupuncture. [1] He heads the Department of Acupuncture at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi and chairs the Institute of Acupuncture and Natural Medicines, an institution which runs acupuncture courses in affiliation with the Beijing University of Chinese Medicine. [2] He is the author of three books on acupuncture; A Guide to Acupuncture and Tissue Cleansing System, Soft Lasers in Medical Practice and Acupuncture — Cure for Common Diseases and is a collaborator of the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) for a postgraduate diploma course in acupuncture (PGDACP).
Kapur obtained a Bachelor of Medicine degree from the University of Medical Sciences, New Delhi in 1979. [3] He started his own practice in New Delhi in 1982 and later joined Sir Ganga Ram Hospital as a consultant,[ citation needed ] eventually becoming the chairman of the Department of Acupuncture. [2] In 1987, Medicina Alternativa conferred the degree of MD (acupuncture) on him.[ citation needed ]
Kapur went to the Salwan Public School, New Delhi. Besides the three books, Kapur has also written several articles on acupuncture therapy. He is a recipient of the Gold Medal from Medicina Alternativa and Rattan Shiromani Award of the Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) and is a visiting professor at the International University of Alternate Medicines.[ citation needed ] The Government of India awarded him the fourth highest civilian honour of the Padma Shri, in 2008, for his contributions to medicine, [4] making him the first acupuncturist to receive the award. He is married to Sunita Kapur, a medical doctor, acupuncturist and the co-author of his books. [5]

Jitendra Nath Pande or J. N. Pande was an Indian Pulmonologist and Professor and Head of Medicine at the All India Institute of Medical Studies (AIIMS). He was working as Senior Consultant (Medicine) at Sitaram Bhartia Institute of Science & Research, New Delhi. He died on 23 May 2020 during sleep when he was home quarantined due to COVID-19 positivity during the COVID-19 pandemic in India, in New Delhi.
Saumitra Rawat is an Indian surgical gastroenterologist and the head of Surgical Gastroenterology and Liver Transplant at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi. The Government of India honoured him in 2015 with the award of Padma Shri.
Samiran Nundy is an Indian gastrointestinal surgeon, medical academic, writer and the President of All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Rishikesh. He is a former member of the faculty at the Cambridge University, London University and Harvard University, and is the founder editor of the National Medical Journal of India and Tropical Gastroenterology. The Government of India awarded him the fourth-highest Indian civilian honour of Padma Shri in 1985.
Harsh Mahajan is an Indian radiologist and one of the pioneers of imaging technology in India. He is the founder of Mahajan Imaging, a diagnostic imaging centre in the Indian capital of New Delhi. He is a former president of the Indian Radiological and Imaging Association (IRIA) and the director of the Department of Nuclear Medicine and Bone Densitometry at the Sir Ganga Ram Hospital. He is a recipient of the Vishisht Seva Medal for his services to the Indian Armed Forces. The Government of India awarded him the fourth highest civilian honour of the Padma Shri in 2002.
Subhash Chand Manchanda is an Indian cardiologist and a senior consultant of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi. He is a Senior Consultant and Co-ordinator of the Diplomate of National Board program of the National Board of Examinations and a former professor and Head of the Department of Cardiology at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi (AIIMS). He is the chairman of the advisory board of Diya Foundation, a non governmental organization managing a number of charitable institutions for the under-privileged children and aged people.
Surinder Kumar Sama is an Indian gastroenterologist, known for his expertise in endocrinology and diabetology. He is considered by many as the Father of Gastroenterology in India. The discovery of Non-cirrhotic portal fibrosis, an idiopathic chronic liver disease is attributed to him, which he described in a 1962 medical paper, co-authored with Ramalingaswami and Wig. The Government of India awarded him the civilian honour of the Padma Shri in 2004 for his pioneering research on liver diseases including Non-cirrhotic portal fibrosis and Hepatitis B. Sama also received the highest Indian medical honour of Dr. B. C. Roy Award in 2004.
Mohsin Wali is an Indian cardiologist and a former honorary physician to R. Venkataraman and Shankar Dayal Sharma and the serving physician to Pranab Mukherjee. His first assignment as a physician to the President of India was with R. Venkataraman, at the age of 33, making him the youngest physician to serve an Indian President. He is the only physician to have served three Presidents of India. The Government of India awarded him the fourth highest civilian honour of the Padma Shri, in 2007, for his contributions to Indian medicine.

The Government of India awarded him the fourth highest civilian honour of the Padma Shri in 2009, for his contributions to Medicine. He is the first Himachal Pradesh resident awarded Padma Shri.
Yash Gulati is an Indian orthopedic surgeon and the senior consultant orthopaedic surgeon at Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals, New Delhi. He specializes in joint replacement and spine surgeries and is a visiting consultant at RAK Hospital, Ras al-Khaimah. He is the youngest orthopedic surgeon to win the civilian honour of the Padma Shri.
Raman Viswanathan (1899–1982) was an Indian chest physician, medical mycologist and pulmonologist, considered by many as the father of Chest Medicine in India. He was the founder director of Vallabhbhai Patel Chest Institute, a postgraduate medical institute based in Delhi. An elected fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians, Royal College of Physicians of London, Indian National Science Academy and the Academy of Medical Sciences, United Kingdom, he was a recipient of several honors including the Forlanini Medal by Italian Tuberculosis Association and the Eugeno Morelli Prize of the National Academy of Sciences, Italy. The Government of India awarded him the third highest civilian honour of the Padma Bhushan, in 1974, for his contributions to medicine.
Prithipal Singh Maini is an Indian orthopedic surgeon and the senior consultant surgeon at Sir Ganga Ram City Hospital, New Delhi. He is also a Consultant Orthopaedist at Sama Hospital, New Delhi.
Brijendra Kumar Rao is an Indian anesthesiologist, critical care specialist, medical administrator and the chairman of the Board of Management of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi. He heads the department of critical care medicine and anesthesiology at the hospital and is a member of the Board of Governors of the Medical Council of India. He has attended several medical conferences to deliver keynote addresses.
Laxmi Chand Gupta (1939–2010) was an Indian medical doctor, radiologist and writer, specialized in sports medicine. He was the medical director of Border Security Force and was a recipient of several honors including the SAARC Literary Award and the B. C. Roy Award, the highest Indian award in the medical category. The Government of India awarded him the fourth highest civilian honour of the Padma Shri, in 2010, for his contributions to medical science.
Shyama Prasad Mandal is an Indian orthopedic surgeon and the co-chairperson of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi. After securing his graduate and MS degrees from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, he continued his education to secure the degree of MCh in orthopedics from Liverpool University. He is a former president of the Indian Orthopaedic Association as well as the president of its Building Committee and the incumbent president of Board of Trustees of Amarjyoti Charitable Trust, a not-for-profit organization engaged in educational and rehabilitation service. He has been involved with the organization of medical conferences, and was the co-chairman of the organizing committee of Knee and Arthroscopy Workshop of 2008 and the patron of the Lower Limb Symposia of 2012, conducted jointly by the Indian Federation of Sports Medicine, Indian Arthroscopy Society and Indian Association of Sports Medicine. He was in the news when he examined Sachin Tendulkar in 1999 for his recurring back injury. The Government of India awarded him the fourth highest civilian honour of the Padma Shri, in 2011, for his contributions to medical science. He is also a recipient of a civilian honor from the Government of Bangladesh. Indian Orthopedic Association has instituted an award, S. P. Mandal Gold Medal, in his honor.
Ram Harsh Singh is an Indian practitioner of the Ayurveda system of alternative medicine and the founder vice chancellor of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan Rajasthan Ayurved University. An Emeritus Professor of Banaras Hindu University and a National Professor of the Ministry of AYUSH of the Government of India, he was conferred with the fourth highest civilian honour of Padma Shri, in 2016.
