Shishupal Ram was an Indian pediatrician. [1] Born in the Indian state of Bihar, he was a graduate of the Patna Medical College. [2] The Government of India awarded him the fourth highest Indian civilian honour of Padma Shri in 1983. [3] He died on 29 October 2011 at the age of 84. [4]

Ram Vilas Paswan was an Indian politician from Bihar and the Cabinet Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution in the first and second Modi ministries. Paswan was also the president of the Lok Janshakti Party, nine-times Lok Sabha member and two-time Rajya Sabha MP. He started his political career as member of Samyukta Socialist Party and was elected to the Bihar Legislative Assembly in 1969. Later, Paswan joined Lok Dal upon its formation in 1974, and became its general secretary. He opposed the emergency, and was arrested during this period. He first entered the Lok Sabha in 1977, as a Janata Party member from Hajipur constituency, and was elected again in 1980, 1989, 1991, 1996, 1998, 1999, 2004 and 2014.

He was honoured by the Government of India in 2003 with Padma Shri, the fourth highest Indian civilian award, and only the 7th doctor in Bihar state to receive the award.
Gopal Prasad Sinha is an Indian neurologist, politician and a member of the Institutional Ethical Committee of the Indian Council of Medical Research. He was born and brought up in Patna, in the Indian state of Bihar and is an alumnus of Patna University. Bishnupada Mukerjee or Bishnupada Mukhopadhyaya was an Indian pharmacologist and orthopedic surgeon, known for his contributions in the fields of pharmacological research and standardization of drugs in India. Lala Suraj Nandan Prasad (1914–2009) was an Indian pediatrician and a former professor of pediatrics of the Patna Medical College and Hospital whose efforts were reported behind the establishment of the department of pediatrics and the development of the children's ward into a 250 bedded Children's Hospital at the institution. He was the founder president of the Indian Academy of Pediatrics when the organization was formed in 1964 though the merger of erstwhile Indian Pediatric Society and the Association of Pediatricians of India. The Government of India awarded him the fourth highest Indian civilian award of Padma Shri in 1974.
Bindhyavasini Devi was an Indian folk musician. She was popularly recognised as Bihar Kokila. She was the founder of Vindhya Kala Mandir, a Patna based music academy promoting folk music, Vindhya Kala Mandir. The academy is associated with Bhatkhande University, Lucknow for 55 years now which is now run by her daughter-in-law Shobha Sinha, son Sudhir Kumar Sinha. She was born in Muzzafarpur in the Indian state of Bihar and specialised in Maithili, Bhojpuri and Magahi folk music. She also sang a popular song, Chhote Dulha Ke, in a movie, Vivah Geet and many of her songs have been released in CD format.
Krishan Dev Dewan is an Indian social worker and the founder of Vaishali Area Small Farmers Association, a non governmental organization for the welfare of the farmers in Vaishali, in the Indian state of Bihar. He is known to have organised the refugee farmers of Nilokheri to make them self-reliant. His activities at Vaishali have been listed by the Food and Agriculture Organization, placing them under People's participation in development. The Government of India awarded him the fourth highest Indian civilian honour of Padma Shri in 1986.
Acharya Ramamurti was an Indian social activist, gandhian, educationist and academic. He headed the review committee of 1990, popularly known as Ramamurti Review Committee, for evaluating the progress of the National Policy on Education of 1986. He was the director of Shrambharati, a non governmental organization, engaged in community development, adhering to Gandhian ideals. The Government of India awarded him the fourth highest civilian award of the Padma Shri in 1999.
Gajendra Narayan Singh was an Indian musician, musicologist, writer, art historian and a former chairman of the Bihar Sangeet Natak Academy, the apex body of the Government of Bihar for music and drama. He is the author of four books on music, Mehfil, a historical reference book of music, Swar Gandh, a book of biosketches and music-related anecdotes, Kaljayee Sur: Pandit Bhimsen Joshi, a biographical work on the life and music of Bhimsen Joshi, and Surile Logon ki Sangath, which details the lives and music of some of the notable Hindustani classical musicians. His efforts are also known in promoting music and musicians of Bihar and he is reported to have initiated scholarship schemes for musicians during his tenure as the head of the Bihar Sangeet Natak Academy. The Government of India awarded him the fourth highest civilian honour of the Padma Shri, in 2007, for his contributions to Indian music. His life has been documented in an autobiography, Bihar ke Sangeeth Parampara, which was published by Delhi Public School, Ludhiana, in 2014.
D. S. Rana is an Indian nephrologist and the Chairman of the Department of Nephrology at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi, known for his proficiency in renal transplant procedures. Born in Dasmal, Hamirpur in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh, he graduated in medicine from the Indira Gandhi Medical College, Shimla and did his advanced training in clinical nephrology at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh. He is an international scholar of the Cleveland Clinic, Ohio and is a member of the Board of Management of the Sir Ganga Ram Hospital. Parvati Education and Health Society, an organization founded by Rana operates a small 5-bedded hospital in his native village of Dasmal for the rural poor. The Government of India awarded him the fourth highest civilian honour of the Padma Shri in 2009, for his contributions to Medicine. He is the first Himachal Pradesh resident awarded Padma Shri.
Dukhan Ram (1899–1990) was an Indian ophthalmologist, academic, legislator and the vice chancellor of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Bihar University. He was the principal of Patna Medical College, one of the oldest medical colleges in India, and the president of Arya Pradeshik Pratinidhi Sabha, a satellite organization of Arya Samaj, founded by Dayanand Saraswati. He successfully contested the 1962 Bihar Legislative Assembly election from Sasaram constituency, on Indian National Congress candidature and served as the president of All India Ophthalmological Society in 1961. The Government of India awarded him the third highest civilian honour of the Padma Bhushan, in 1962, for his contributions to medical science.
Rabindra Narain Singh is an Indian physician who is serving as International President of Vishva Hindu Parishad. In 2010, he got Padma Shri in Medicine. He is Member of Managing Committee of Indian Red Cross Society of Bihar.
Bilat Paswan, who wrote under the pen name Vihangam, was an Indian writer and politician, known for his writings in Hindi & Maithili literature. He was a former chairman of Bihar Public Service Commission & former chairman of Bihar Inter University Board. Born in 1940 to Bhutai Paswan in Bihar, he represented Rajnagar at the Bihar Legislative Assembly for two terms in 1968 and 1972 & Khajauli at the Bihar Legislative Assembly for two terms in 1985 and 1990, contesting under Indian National Congress candidature, defeating Ram Lakhan Ram of the Communist Party of India on both the elections. He also contested two elections unsuccessfully, in 1980 and 2000. The Government of India awarded him the fourth highest civilian honour of the Padma Shri, in 2005, for his contributions to literature.
Indu Bhushan Sinha was an Indian nephrologist and medical academic from the Indian state of Bihar. He is a former professor and head of the department of nephrology at Patna Medical College and Hospital. He has served as the editor of The Patna Journal of Medicine of the Indian Medical Association (1986–89) and is a life member of the Indian Society of Nephrology. The Government of India awarded him the fourth highest civilian honour of the Padma Shri, in 2008, for his contributions to medical science.
