Atluri Sriman Narayana is an Indian dental surgeon, a former Professor of Dental Surgery in Government Dental College, Hyderabad and a former State Coordinator of the Andhra Pradesh School Health Services [1] known for the free dental camps he has conducted across the villages in Andhra Pradesh since 1974. [2] [3] He founded the Sai Oral Health Foundation, [4] under the aegis of which he makes weekly trips to the rural areas of the state, conducts medical camps and delivers lectures at schools educating the rural masses about oral hygiene. His efforts are reported to have reached 1.5 million children in 20,000 schools. [2] [3]

Narayana received the B. C. Roy Award, the highest medical award of the Government of India in 1989. [5] He is also a recipient of the Visishta Puraskara from the Government of Andhra Pradesh (1999), Dr. Paidi Lakshmaiah Puraskar from Dr. Paidi Laxmaiah Trust, TANA Excellency Award (2009) and the FAMDENT Lifetime Achievement Award (2010). [1] [5] He was honored again by the Government of India, in 2002, with the fourth highest Indian civilian award of Padma Shri. [6]

Personal life

Narayana is married to Srirama Laskhmi in Hyderabad, India. His oldest son, Sairam Atluri, is the CEO of Stemcures, and is a pain physician practicing in Cincinnati, OH. His younger son, Mohan Atluri, is a maxillofacial surgeon practicing in Hyderabad. He has three grandchildren, Trisha Atluri, Teja Atluri, and Master Neel Sai Atluri.

Chittoor Mohammed Habeebullah was an Indian gastroenterologist, known for his contributions to the medical discipline of gastroenterology in India. Born in 1937 in the South Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, Habeebullah graduated in medicine (MBBS) from the Guntur Medical College in 1958, after which he secured his master's degree in general medicine (MD) from Andhra University and DM from the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh. He started his career as an assistant professor at the Department of Gastroenterology, Osmania Medical College and served as the professor and the Head of the Department from 1975 to 1992 and thereafter as the principal till 1994. He also served as the Director, Centre for Liver Research and Diagnostics, Deccan College of Medical Sciences, Hyderabad and as the Director of Medical Education, Government of Andhra Pradesh. He was a 1997 Fellow of The National Academy of Sciences, India and had many scientific publications to his credit. A recipient of the Khwarizmi International Award in 1997, Habeebullah was honored by the Government of India, in 2001, with the fourth highest Indian civilian award of Padma Shri. He died on 10 July 2010, falling to a cardiac arrest.

Suragali Timothy Gnanananda Kavi was an Indian poet from the state of Telangana.

Bhupathiraju Somaraju, shortly B. Somaraju, is an Indian cardiologist and was the chairman of CARE Hospitals, Hyderabad. Author of many medical articles in peer reviewed journals and an elected fellow of the National Academy of Medical Sciences, he was honoured by the Government of India, in 2001, with the fourth highest Indian civilian award of Padma Shri.

Gullapalli Nageswara Rao is an Indian ophthalmologist, the chairman of the Academia Ophthalmologica Internationalis (AOI) and the founder of the L. V. Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad. A former associate professor at the School of Medicine and Dentistry of the University of Rochester, Rao is a Fellow of the National Academy of Medical Sciences, India. He was honored by the Government of India, in 2002, with the fourth highest Indian civilian award of Padma Shri. He was elected in 2017 to the Ophthalmology Hall of Fame instituted by the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.

Nagarur Gopinath was an Indian surgeon and one of the pioneers of cardiothoracic surgery in India. He is credited with the first successful performance of open heart surgery in India which he performed in 1962. He served as the honorary surgeon to two Presidents of India and was a recipient of the fourth highest Indian civilian award of Padma Shri in 1974 and Dr. B. C. Roy Award, the highest Indian medical award in 1978 from the Government of India.

Gopi Chand Mannam is an Indian cardiothoracic surgeon and the chief cardiothoracic surgeon at Star Hospitals in Hyderabad, known for the performance of over 3,000 pediatric heart surgeries. After graduating from Guntur Medical College in 1981, he worked in Jamaica for two years at Victoria Jubilee Hospital in Kingston and Savanna-la-Mar Public General Hospital in Westmoreland, before moving to the UK where he secured a fellowship from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 1986, followed by another fellowship from the Royal College of Surgeons of Glasgow in 1987. He worked in the UK for five years, at the end of which he secured the fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of London before returning to India in 1994 to join the Apollo Hospital in Hyderabad as a senior consultant in cardiothoracic surgery.

Dr. Sridhar Reddy is an Indian dentist and a Social Activist. He is the Chairman of Sri Krishna Chaitanya Vidyavihar Street Children Trust, a non-governmental organization. He along with his team has worked in the areas of rehabilitating orphaned and underprivileged children.
