King George's Medical University is a medical school,hospital,and medical university located in Lucknow,Uttar Pradesh,India. The medical school was raised to a medical university by an act passed by the government of Uttar Pradesh on 16 September 2002. It is the only government medical institution to have been awarded the NAAC A+ grade in the state of Uttar Pradesh.

Anil Kohli is an Indian dental surgeon,medical administrator and a former president of the Dental Council of India. He is an elected fellow of the Faculty of Dental Surgery of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and holds the honorary rank of 'Brigadier' in the Army Dental Corps. He is a recipient of B. C. The Government of India awarded him the fourth highest civilian honour of the Padma Shri,in 2008,for his contributions to medical science.
Gopal Krishna Vishwakarma,more popularly known as G K Vishwakarma,was an eminent orthopedic surgeon,academician and public health administrator. He was the Director General of Health Services from October 1986 to his retirement in October 1992. He was awarded the Silver Jubilee Award (1983) and the Dr. B. C. Roy Award by Medical Council of India,The Government of India,in recognition of his contributions to the field of medicine and public health honored him with the Padma Shri (1985) one of India's highest civilian awards in India.
