M. R. K. Panneerselvam is an Indian Politician and Department of Agriculture Government of Tamilnadu and he has been the Minister for Health in the state of Tamil Nadu during the period from 2006 to 2011,Minister for Backward Classes during 1996. He was born in Muttam and has a bachelor's degree in Law (The Tamil Nadu Dr.Ambedkar Law University).
Panneerselvam has been elected to the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly on five occasions from the Kurinjipadi constituency as a candidate of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam party. These were in the elections of 1996, [1] 2001,2006,2016 and 2021.
As promised in the DMK election manifesto,a separate Agriculture Budget for the state was presented on 14 August 2021. [2] MRK Panneerselvam,the minister for agriculture and farmer’s welfare,presented the budget and said that it was in line with the views of farmers and experts,whose opinions were sought before preparing it.
Minister for Agriculture and Farmer’s Welfare MRK Pannerselvam began the presentation by dedicating the budget to those farmers who are protesting at New Delhi against the farm laws. [3]

The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam is an Indian regional political party with great influence in the state of Tamil Nadu and the union territory of Puducherry. It is a Dravidian party founded by the former chief minister of Tamil Nadu M. G. Ramachandran (M.G.R.) at Madurai on 17 October 1972 as a breakaway faction from the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam after M. Karunanidhi expelled him from the party for demanding an account as the party treasurer. The party is adhering to the policies of socialism and secularism based on the principles of C. N. Annadurai (Anna) collectively coined as Annaism by M.G.R. The party has won a seven-time majority in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly and has emerged as the most successful political outfit in the state's history. It is currently the main opposition party in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly.

Muthuvel Karunanidhi was an Indian writer and politician who served as Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu for almost two decades over five terms between 1969 and 2011. He is popularly referred to as Kalaignar (Artist) and Mutthamizh Arignar for his contributions to Tamil literature. He had the longest intermittent tenure as Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu with 6,863 days in office. He was also a long-standing leader of the Dravidian movement and ten-time president of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam political party. Karunanidhi has the record of never losing an election to the Tamil Nadu Assembly,having won 13 times since his first victory in 1957. Before entering politics,he worked in the Tamil film industry as a screenwriter. He also made contributions to Tamil literature,having written stories,plays,novels,and a multiple-volume memoir. Karunanidhi died on 7 August 2018 at Kauvery Hospital in Chennai after a series of prolonged,age-related illnesses.

He served as the 45th Mayor of Chennai from 1996 to 2002 and the 1st Deputy Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu from 2009 to 2011. The seventh legislative assembly election to Tamil Nadu was held on 28 May 1980. The election was held two years before the end of the term of M. G. Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam allied with the Indian National Congress (Indira) and All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam with Janata Party. Despite their landslide victory of 37 out of 39 seats at the general election in January 1980,DMK and Indira Congress failed to win the legislative assembly election. AIADMK won the election and its leader and incumbent Chief Minister MGR was sworn in as Chief Minister for the second time.

TANSI land acquisition case was a sensational case against J. Jayalalithaa in Tamil Nadu,during 1991-96. Jaya Publication and Sasi Enterprises,the companies in which J. Jayalalithaa and her aide V. K. Sasikala had holdings,purchased lands of Tamil Nadu Small Industries Corporation (TANSI),a state government agency,in 1992. The case was filed by Subramanian Swamy and chargesheet were filed during the following DMK government headed by M. Karunanidhi in 1996. Jayalalitha and her aide,Sasikala were convicted in the lower court,which sentenced her to two year rigorous imprisonment and fined ₹50,000 on 9 October 2000. The case had political implications as Jayalalithaa was disqualified from contesting the 2001 Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly election. Though Jayalalithaa's nomination papers were rejected,she took oath as chief minister after the victory of AIADMK in the elections. The Supreme Court disqualified her in September 2001,resulting in her stepping down and elevation of O. Panneerselvam as the chief minister. The governor of Tamil Nadu,Fathima Beevi,who administered oath to J. Jayalalithaa,was advised to step down by the union ministry,who also sent the report to the President of India.
The 2017 Tamil Nadu farmers' protest was a protest against the Bharatiya Janata Party-led central government by farmers from Tamil Nadu demanding waiver of their farm loans among other demands due to crop failures. The protests started after the 2016–2017 Drought in Tamil Nadu,which was caused after the worst rainfall to the state after 140 years. This led to many farmers committing suicides and dying of heart attacks.
The Sixteenth Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Election was held on 6 April 2021,to elect representatives from the 234 constituencies in the Indian State of Tamil Nadu. The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) won the election,ending the decade-long reign of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK). The DMK's leader M. K. Stalin became the eighth Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu,and the 12th Chief Minister since the 1956 reorganization. He replaced Edappadi K. Palaniswami of the AIADMK.

He has been elected as a Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) in 2016 on behalf of DMK in the Gingee assembly constituency which is a part of the Villupuram district. He was re-elected to the same legislative assembly in the 2021 Tamil Nadu assembly election. Non Resident Tamil Welfare,Refugees &Evacuees is an initiative by the M.K. Stalin Cabinet Ministry. KS Masthan is also the District Secretary of Vilupuram North with DMK.
