M. P. Saminathan is the Minister for Information &Publicity in the 16th Legislative Assembly of Tamil Nadu. He was the Minister for Highways and Minor Ports in Tamil Nadu in the 13th Legislative Assembly (2006 - 2011).
He was born in Erode and his hometown is Muthur,Tiruppur District. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from PSG College of Arts &Science,Coimbatore.
He had a hat-trick assembly win in 1996,2001 and 2006 from the Vellakoil Constituency. Vellakoil Constituency was announced as defunct for the 2011 elections. In 2011 and 2016 he had to change his constituency and lost in both the elections. In 2021,he emerged as a winner from the Kangayam Constituency.
He started his political career at a very young age. He first became an MLA in 1996 by defeating the former minister Durai Ramasamy. Saminathan was only 32 years old at that time.
Gobichettipalayam is a town and municipality in Erode district of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is the administrative headquarters of Gobichettipalayam taluk. It is situated at the centre of the South Indian Peninsula at 213 metres (699 ft) above sea level,surrounded by Western Ghats. It is located 35 kilometres (22 mi) from the district headquarters Erode,44 kilometres (27 mi) from Tiruppur and 80 kilometres (50 mi) from Coimbatore. Agriculture and textile industries are major contributors to the economy of the town.
Vellakovil is a municipal town in Kangeyam taluk of Tirupur District,in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is located on National Highway 81 between Trichy and Coimbatore. The town is spread in an area of 64.75 km2. As of 2011,the town had a population of 40,359. Kannapuram village located near to this town is famous for Kangeyam breed cattle market that happens on every year during Mariyamman temple festival in the month of April. It is an industrialized town with traditional agriculture being the occupation for most of the people. It holds lot of Power looms weaving bedsheets,floor mats and cotton materials being exported to foreign countries via exporters present in Karur.
Erode Venkata Krishnasamy Sampath Elangovan was an Indian politician who was a member of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly,representing the Erode East Assembly constituency. He previously represented the Gobichettipalayam Lok Sabha constituency of Tamil Nadu and was the Textiles Minister for the Union Government between 2004 and 2009,in Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh Government. Subburaman Thirunavukkarasar is an Indian politician. He was the State President of Tamil Nadu Congress Committee till 2 February 2019 and former secretary of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) of the Indian National Congress (INC) party. His introduction to politics in 1977 was facilitated by former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu,M. G. Ramachandran. Ramachandran founded the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) in 1972 and was facing his first elections for the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly election in 1977. He identified Thirunavukkarasar,a lawyer by profession,to contest the Aranthangi assembly constituency. Thirunavukkarasar won the seat,aged 27,and was elected as the Deputy Speaker of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly. He continued in that capacity till 1980. Subsequently,he served as Tamil Nadu state minister from 1980 to 1987 in the MGR cabinet,holding portfolios that included Industries,Housing Board,Excise and Handlooms. Later,he became a member of the Lok Sabha –the lower house of the Parliament of India –when he won the erstwhile Pudukottai Lok Sabha constituency. He served as Union Minister of state for shipping and later for telecommunications and information technology.
I. Periyasamy is an Indian politician who serves as the Rural Development Minister of Tamil Nadu and the former minister for Co-Operation from 2021 to 2022;Revenue and Housing under the DMK regime from 2006 to 2011. He was born in Batlagundu on 6 January 1953. His son I. P. Senthil Kumar is an MLA of Palani constituency in Tamil nadu.

He was the Speaker of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly until his resignation on 29 September 2012. He was elected to the Tamil Nadu legislative assembly from Royapuram constituency as an Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam candidate in the 1991,2001,2006,2011 elections and 2016 elections for five terms. During the Tamil Nadu legislative Assembly 2021,he again contested in Royapuram Constituency and lost the election. He served in various cabinet positions starting from 1991 - Forests,Fisheries,Information Technology,Electricity and Finance. He is one among the senior leaders of AIADMK. In October 2020,he was appointed to 11 member Steering Committee of AIADMK and also serves as its Organizing Secretary. In the TN 2021 Election for Royapuram constituency,he was defeated by dmk candidate. He had represented Royapuram five times - 1991,2001,2006,2011 and 2016.
