Personal life

He married Margaret, whom he met at University at Buffalo where he was pursuing his Ph.D. while she was pursuing her Master's. They have two sons. [17]

Oddanchatram is also famous for vegetable and cattle market. As of 2011, the town had a population of 30,064. It is known as vegetable city of Tamil Nadu. Oddanchatram vegetable market is the largest supplying of vegetables in Tamilnadu and Kerala. Agriculture is the major economic support for the town.

The third legislative assembly election to the Madras state was held on 21 February 1962. The Indian National Congress party, led by K. Kamaraj, won the election. Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam made significant in-roads in the election and emerged as the second party for the first time by winning 50 seats. 1962 Election remains the most recent election in which Indian National Congress to form a majority Government in the State as its support was heavily declined due to rise of Dravidian political parties.

Ramasamy Thamaraikani was an Indian politician from Tamil Nadu and a Member of Legislative Assembly. He was elected to Tamil Nadu state assembly five times from Srivilliputhur constituency, three times as an Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (ADMK) candidate under M. G. Edappadi Karuppa Palaniswami, often referred to by his initials E.P.S., is an Indian politician who is the current leader of opposition in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly. He served as the seventh chief minister of Tamil Nadu, from 2017 to 2021. He has been the General Secretary of All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) since 28 March 2023. Previously, Palaniswami has served as the interim general secretary (2022–23), joint co-ordinator (2017–22) and headquarters secretary (2016–22) of AIADMK.

D. Jayakumar is an Indian politician and was a Member of the 15th Legislative Assembly of Tamil Nadu. He was the Speaker of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly until his resignation on 29 September 2012. He was elected to the Tamil Nadu legislative assembly from Royapuram constituency as an Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam candidate in the 1991, 2001, 2006, 2011 elections and 2016 elections for five terms. During the Tamil Nadu legislative Assembly 2021, he again contested in Royapuram Constituency and lost the election. He served in various cabinet positions starting from 1991 - Forests, Fisheries, Information Technology, Electricity and Finance. He is one among the senior leaders of AIADMK. In October 2020, he was appointed to 11 member Steering Committee of AIADMK and also serves as its Organizing Secretary. In the TN 2021 Election for Royapuram constituency, he was defeated by dmk candidate. He had represented Royapuram five times - 1991, 2001, 2006, 2011 and 2016.

By-elections to two state assembly constituencies were held in Tamil Nadu, India, in two separate phases. Election for Madurai Central was held on 11 October 2006 and for Madurai West was held on 26 June 2007. The election results were not expected to change the prospects of the party in power, the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), and its Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi.

S. Syed Ghouse Basha is a politician from the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. He belongs to the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK). He is a former Member of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly who represented the Madurai Central. He was elected in a by-election in 2006 caused by the death of the previous member P. T. R. Palanivel Rajan.
He hails from Kazimar Street in Madurai and descendant of Kazi Syed Tajuddin hence a huqdar of Kazimar Big Mosque. He is former Deputy Mayor of Madurai Municipal Corporation and former member of Tamil Nadu Waqf Board.

Thalikottai Rasuthevar Baalu Rajaa better known as Dr. T. R. B. Rajaa is an Indian Tamil politician. He is the Minister for Industries, Investment Promotions and Commerce in the Government of Tamil Nadu since 2023, having won the 2011, 2016 and the 2021 Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Elections representing DMK in Mannargudi. He also holds the position of the party's IT Wing Secretary.

Again he contested in the 2016 Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly election as an All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) candidate and won from his Avadi constituency.

Sellur K. Raju is an Indian politician and incumbent Member of the Tamil Nadu legislative assembly for the Madurai West constituency since 2011. He represents the AIADMK party. This was his first election and he won by securing 59 percentage of vote in Madurai west Constituency. He was the minister for Co-operation, which includes Co-operation, Statistics and Ex-service welfare.

P. Moorthy is an Indian politician who is a current member of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly. He represents Madurai East constituency as a member of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam. Previously, he represented Sholavandan constituency. He also serves as Tamil Nadu's Minister of Commercial Taxes, Registration and Stamp Law.
