Laser 4.7 World Championships

The Laser 4.7 World Championships have been held every year since 2002, organized by the International Sailing Federation. [1] The event is open to young under 18.

The laser is cat rigged, with a single mainsail and is a simple, light and fast boat to sail. The Laser Standard is the original of the Laser family of dinghys, which also includes the Laser Radial and Laser 4.7, both of which use the same hull, but have smaller rigs.

The Laser 4.7 or ILCA 4 is a one-design dinghy class in the Laser series and is a one-design class of sailboat. All Lasers are built to the same specifications. The Laser is 4.06 m long, with a waterline length of 3.81 m. The hull weight is 59 kg (130 lb). The boat is manufactured by ILCA and World Sailing approved builders.

The following is the qualification system and summary of the sailing at the 2023 Pan American Games competition.

This article details the qualifying phase for sailing at the 2024 Summer Olympics. 312 quota places for the Games are entitled to the sailors coming from their respective NOCs, based on the results at designated regattas supervised by World Sailing. Host nation France reserves a single boat in each of the ten sailing classes, whereas four quota places are distributed to the NOCs competing in the men's Laser and women's Laser Radial under the Tripartite Commission.
