Japanese boy band JO1 has performed on three concert tours, three one-off concerts, twenty-five music festivals, and thirty-seven live events. Debuting in March 2020, during the start of lockdown in Japan due to the COVID-19 pandemic, [1] JO1 promoted their first studio album with two virtual concerts and held their first concert with a live audience, Open the Door, in November 2021. The group embarked on their first arena tour, Kizuna, in September 2022. They did another arena tour and their first Asia tour in the later half of 2023, with an encore performance in Kyocera Dome.

Contents

Managed by Lapone Entertainment, a joint venture between CJ ENM and Yoshimoto Kogyo, JO1 is a regular act in CJ ENM's K-pop music festival, KCON. The group has performed in various award ceremonies and television specials, in which they collaborated with other artists, such as Yuto of Pentagon and Akiko Wada. In 2022, JO1 made their debut appearance on NHK's New Year's Eve television special, Kōhaku Uta Gassen , and became the first artist to perform from the white team the next year.

Kizuna is JO1's first arena tour to support their second studio album with the same name, released in May 2022. The group toured to five prefectures with a total of 13 shows, [3] with a livestream available for the latter Fukuoka show, [4] where they performed "SuperCali" for the first time. [5] The set list also included the group's earlier songs and was supported by a live band performance for the entire concert. [5]

Beyond the Dark is JO1's second arena tour to six cities throughout Japan to support their third studio album, Equinox, released on September 20. [7] [8] The set includes new songs from the album and is supported by a live band. [8] An encore concert in Kyocera Dome was held on November 24–25, 2023, [6] [8] with additional unit performances to unreleased songs and a livestream available for the first day show. [6] The tour features camera-approved sessions and air balloons for the dome performances. [6]

Held in support of their debut studio album The Star (2020), Starlight was a virtual pay-per-view concert hosted by JO1 in December 2020, livestreamed from the Pia Arena MM via Pia Live Stream  [ ja ]. [13] [14] Lasting for 2 hours and 20 minutes, the concert also consisted of talk and game segments. [15]

Starlight Deluxe was the second virtual concert to support The Star (2020). Unlike the first concert, it was livestreamed from CJ ENM Studio Center in South Korea via StreamPass. First concert by JO1 with a live audience, Open The Door took place at the Makuhari Messe in November 2021 after changing the group's initial plan to do a national tour to comply with Japan's COVID-19 preventive measures. The concert mainly featured songs from EP singles Challenger, Stranger, and Wandering. [20] Three out of five shows were broadcast through StreamPass. [21]

Taking place in K Arena Yokohama, JAM Thanksgiving – Summer Festival is held to express gratitude to fans who regularly support the group and their activities. The event mainly features songs from Hitchhiker as well as talk and game corners. The last show was live-streamed globally. [22]

Protostar is an extended play (EP) marketed as the debut single of Japanese boy group JO1, formed through the reality competition show Produce 101 Japan. It also served as the lead single for their first studio album, The Star (2020). Consisting of songs previously performed on the last episode of the show and three new songs, the EP single was released by Lapone Entertainment into three different editions on March 4, 2020. The latter was used as the ending theme song of the anime series Boruto: Naruto Next Generations. "Saigo no Tight Hug" is a song recorded by Japanese idol girl group Nogizaka46. It was released on November 5, 2021, through N46Div., and Sony Music Records, as a lead single of their first compilation album Time Flies. Erika Ikuta, who graduated from the group on December 31, 2021, serves as the center position of the song.

<i>Kizuna</i> (album) 2022 studio album by JO1

Kizuna is the second studio album by the Japanese boy band JO1. It includes songs from their previous EP singles, Challenger, Stranger, and Wandering. Lapone Entertainment released the album into five physical editions on May 25, 2022, while the digital version was released two days earlier, with the Japan Hot 100 number-one song "With Us" serving as the main promotional single. It features familiar collaborators like Full8loom, Alive Knob, Teito, Score, and Megatone as well as new contributors like Lee Woo-min (Collapsedone), Justin Reinstein, Purple Night, UTA, and others.

Midnight Sun is an extended play (EP) marketed as the sixth single of Japanese boy group JO1, featuring lead track "SuperCali". It also served as the lead single of their third studio album, Equinox (2023). Consisting of four songs and four instrumental version, the EP single was released digitally by Lapone Entertainment on October 10, 2022, while the three physical editions were released on October 12, 2022. It features the group's frequent collaborators such as Teito, Jung Ho-hyun, Full8loom, Nmore, and Poptime.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Tropical Night (EP)</span> 2023 single by JO1

Tropical Night is an extended play (EP) marketed as the seventh single of Japanese boy group JO1, featuring the lead track "Tiger". It also served as the second single of their third studio album, Equinox (2023). Consisting a total of six songs and two instrumental versions, the EP single was released into four editions on April 5, 2023. It features the group's frequent collaborators such as Jung Ho-hyun, 1by1, Nmore, and Poptime, and first collaboration EDM artist Asher Postman. The EP single also includes the Japan Record Excellent Work Award winner "Trigger" as well as "We Good" and "Romance", theme songs of television series Our Little Love Story and Blue Birthday, starring members Syoya Kimata and Shion Tsurubo, respectively.

IMP., formerly known as Impactors, is a Japanese boy band associated with Tobe. They made their official debut on 18 August 2023 with the digital release of their first single "CRUISIN'".

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Issei Mamehara</span> Japanese singer and actor

Issei Mamehara, is a Japanese singer and actor. He debuted as a member of the Japanese boy band JO1 in 2020, after placing first in the first season of Produce 101 Japan. He made his debut as an actor in 2021 and played Kamen Rider Chimera in the Kamen Rider Revice films.

<i>Equinox</i> (JO1 album) 2023 studio album by JO1

Equinox is the third studio album by Japanese boy band JO1. It includes songs from their previous EP releases, Midnight Sun and Tropical Night. Lapone Entertainment released the album in five editions on September 20, 2023, with "Venus" and "Radiovision" serving as the main promotional singles. It is the group's first release with unit songs and digipack packaging. Notable contributors include Sunwoo of The Boyz, Masami Kakinuma, and members of JO1.

Ren Nagase is a Japanese singer, actor and television personality. He is a member of the boy band King & Prince and Mr. King. His nickname is "Renren."
