The following is a list of awards and nominations received by British singer, pianist, and composer Elton John. Outside of music, John has also received several honourable awards, including a knighthood in 1998. His accolades won him the honor as an EGOT at the 75th Emmy awards in January 2024.
Elton John has sold over 300 million records worldwide during his six-decade career in music, making him one of the best-selling artists of all time. [7] His tribute single "Candle in the Wind 1997", a rewritten version of his 1974 single in dedication to Princess Diana, sold over 33 million copies worldwide and is the best-selling chart single of all time. John has received five Grammy Awards, five Brit Awards; including for Outstanding Contribution to Music; two Academy Awards, two Golden Globes, a Tony Award, a Laurence Olivier Award, a Disney Legend Award, and the Kennedy Center Honor. In 2004, Rolling Stone ranked him 49th on its list of 100 influential musicians of the rock and roll era. [16] He was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1992 and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994, and is a fellow of The Ivors Academy. He was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II for services to music and charitable services in 1998, and was appointed a member of the Order of the Companions of Honour by King Charles III (then Prince of Wales) in 2020. [17] John won an Emmy award in 2024 for his program Elton John Live: Farewell from Dodger Stadium, completing the set of television (Emmy), music (Grammy), movie (Oscar) and stage (Tony) awards known as an EGOT.
John is also known for his work on the stage and film; he wrote the music and lyrics for the Broadway musicals The Lion King (1998), Aida (2000), and Billy Elliot the Musical (2009), and also wrote the songs for the Disney animated film The Lion King (1994). Over his six decade career in music, John has received 34 Grammy Award nominations receiving six wins. John was appointed a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in 1995. [40] For his charitable work, he was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II on 24 February 1998. [41] [42] In the 2020 New Year Honours, he was appointed Member of the Order of the Companions of Honour (CH) by King Charles III (then Prince Charles) for services to music and to charity. [43]

Released in November 1974, it spans the years 1970 to 1974, compiling ten of John's singles, with one track variation for releases in North America and for Europe and Australia.
