The 2018 Davis Cup World Group play-offs were held from 14 to 16 September. They were the main play-offs of the 2018 Davis Cup. The winners of the playoffs advance as seeded to the 2019 Davis Cup qualifying round.
The 2020–21 Davis Cup was the 109th edition of the Davis Cup, a tournament between national teams in men's tennis. It was sponsored by Rakuten. For this edition, the format of the cup was changed. The new format saw the creation of a Davis Cup World Group I and World Group II which was played on a worldwide basis and replaced the regional Group I and Group II. As a result, the Davis Cup nations ranking was no longer used to determine which group a nation was played in. Previous the 2019, and the 2021 finals host Spain were the defending champions. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, on 26 June 2020 the ITF announced that the 2020 finals would take place from 22 until 28 November 2021. In addition, 24 World Group I and World Group II ties were postponed to March and September 2021, and the 2020 regional Group III and Group IV events were also postponed to 2021. The 18 nations that qualified for the finals kept their standing for the next year.
The Finals, formerly known as World Group, was the highest level of Davis Cup competition in 2021. It was held on indoor hard courts at three venues in Innsbruck, Austria, Madrid, Spain and Turin, Italy. The 2020 edition was originally scheduled to take place from 23 until 29 November 2020. However, on 26 June 2020, ITF announced that 2020 Finals would take place from 22 until 28 November 2021 due to coronavirus pandemic and be named 2021 Davis Cup Finals. On 18 January 2021, ITF announced that the Finals would be expanded over 11 days, from 25 November to 5 December 2021. The ties were contested in a best-of-three rubbers format and played on one day. There were two singles followed by a doubles. Spain were the defending champions, but were eliminated in the round-robin stage. The Russian Tennis Federation won the title, defeating Croatia in the final. Andrey Rublev was named the Most Valuable Player of the tournament after going 6–1 in both singles and doubles.

The Russian Tennis Federation were the defending champions, but they and Belarus were disqualified from competing in international events due to the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine.

The ties were contested in a best-of-three rubbers format and played on one day. There were two singles followed by a doubles. The Russian Tennis Federation were the defending champions, but they were banned from competing in international events following the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine. Canada won the title, defeating Australia in the final. It was Canada's first ever Davis Cup title. On 13 March 2022, ITF announced that Serbia, which had been awarded a wild card for the 2022 Finals, had replaced the Russian Tennis Federation as the highest-ranked losing semi-finalist in the 2021 Finals. On 17 March 2022, ITF announced that Canada will compete in the Finals as the replacement wild card.
The Democratic Republic of the Congo Davis Cup team represents the Democratic Republic of the Congo in Davis Cup tennis competition and are governed by the Fédération de la République Démocratique du Congo de Tennis. They currently compete in the Africa Zone of Group IV.
The Tanzania Davis Cup team represents the Tanzania in Davis Cup tennis competition and are governed by the Tanzania Tennis Association. They currently compete in the Africa Zone of Group IV.
The Burundi Davis Cup team represents the Burundi in Davis Cup tennis competition and are governed by the Fédération de Tennis du Burundi. They currently compete in the Africa Zone of Group IV.
The Asia/Oceania Zone was the unique zone within Group 4 of the regional Davis Cup competition in 2022. The zone's competition was held in round robin format in Colombo, Sri Lanka, from 8 to 13 August 2022 and in Isa Town, Bahrain, from 17 to 22 October 2022.
