The Finals, formerly known as World Group, was the highest level of Davis Cup competition in 2022. It took place from 13 to 18 September and from 22 to 27 November 2022. The ties were contested in a best-of-three rubbers format and played on one day. There were two singles followed by a doubles. [1] The Russian Tennis Federation were the defending champions, but they were banned from competing in international events following the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine. [2] Canada won the title, defeating Australia in the final. It was Canada's first ever Davis Cup title. On 13 March 2022, ITF announced that Serbia, which had been awarded a wild card for the 2022 Finals, had replaced the Russian Tennis Federation as the highest-ranked losing semi-finalist in the 2021 Finals. [3] On 17 March 2022, ITF announced that Canada will compete in the Finals as the replacement wild card. [4]
16 nations took part in the Finals. The qualification was as follows:
The seedings were based on the Davis Cup Ranking of 7 March 2022. Croatia, as runners-up in 2021, were seeded No. 1, with Spain, France and USA also seeded based on the latest Davis Cup nations ranking. The remaining 12 nations were distributed in Pots 2–4 according to the latest Davis Cup nations ranking. Four host nations, Germany, Great Britain, Italy and Spain were placed in different groups. The 16 teams were divided in four round robin groups of four teams each. The top two teams in each group qualified for the quarterfinals.

The Australia Davis Cup team is the second most successful team ever to compete in the Davis Cup, winning the coveted title on 28 separate occasions, second behind the United States with 32.
The 2011 Davis Cup was the 100th edition of a tournament between national teams in men's tennis. Spain was the championship team, winning the final over Argentina, 3–1.

The 2020–21 Davis Cup was the 109th edition of the Davis Cup, a tournament between national teams in men's tennis. It was sponsored by Rakuten. For this edition, the format of the cup was changed. The new format saw the creation of a Davis Cup World Group I and World Group II which was played on a worldwide basis and replaced the regional Group I and Group II. As a result, the Davis Cup nations ranking was no longer used to determine which group a nation was played in. Previous the 2019, and the 2021 finals host Spain were the defending champions. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, on 26 June 2020 the ITF announced that the 2020 finals would take place from 22 until 28 November 2021. In addition, 24 World Group I and World Group II ties were postponed to March and September 2021, and the 2020 regional Group III and Group IV events were also postponed to 2021. The 18 nations that qualified for the finals kept their standing for the next year.

On 18 January 2021, ITF announced that the Finals would be expanded over 11 days, from 25 November to 5 December 2021. The ties were contested in a best-of-three rubbers format and played on one day. There were two singles followed by a doubles. Spain were the defending champions, but were eliminated in the round-robin stage. The Russian Tennis Federation won the title, defeating Croatia in the final. Andrey Rublev was named the Most Valuable Player of the tournament after going 6–1 in both singles and doubles.
The 2022 Davis Cup qualifying round was held on 4–5 March 2022. The twelve winners of this round qualify for the 2022 Davis Cup Finals while the twelve losers will qualify for the 2022 Davis Cup World Group I.
