Asclepiadoideae Subfamily of plants

The Asclepiadoideae are a subfamily of plants in the family Apocynaceae. Formerly, they were treated as a separate family under the name Asclepiadaceae, e.g. by APG II, and known as the milkweed family.

Alyxia Genus of flowering plants

Alyxia is an Australasian genus of flowering plant in the dogbane family, Apocynaceae. It contains at present 106 species, but Alyxia stellata and A. tisserantii are very variable, might be cryptic species complexes, and are need of further study. It consists of shrubby, climbing or scrambling plants. This genus occurs in China, the Himalayas, Southeast Asia, Australia, New Caledonia and the Pacific Islands. There are 14 species in Australia, 21 in New Caledonia and 7 in the other Pacific Islands, including Hawaiʻi.

Cynanchum Genus of flowering plants in the dogbane family Apocynaceae

Cynanchum is a genus of about 300 species including some swallowworts, belonging to the family Apocynaceae. The taxon name comes from Greek kynos and anchein, hence the common name for several species is dog-strangling vine. Most species are non-succulent climbers or twiners. There is some evidence of toxicity.

Stephanotis Genus of plants

Stephanotis is a genus of flowering plants first described in 1806. The name derives from the Greek stephanōtís fit for a crown, derivative of stéphanos (masculine) crown. It contains evergreen, woody-stemmed lianas with a scattered distribution in several tropical and subtropical regions.

Pergularia Genus of flowering plants

Pergularia is a genus of the botanical family Apocynaceae. Pergularia daemia is a perennial twinning herb that grows along the roadsides of India and tropical and subtropical regions in South Asia, Africa, and Australia.

Dischidia is a genus of plants in the “dog-bane” family Apocynaceae, collectively known as the “milkweeds”. They are epiphytes, native to tropical areas of China, India as well as Bhutan’s southern borders, wherever minimal frost occurs. Additionally, they are known from most areas of Mainland Southeast Asia, including forested areas of Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, and some parts of Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore. Several species are also native to Papua New Guinea and northeastern Australia.

Vincetoxicum Genus of plants

Vincetoxicum is a genus of plants in the family Apocynaceae. Although the species in Vincetoxicum have sometimes been included in Cynanchum, chemical and molecular evidence shows that Vincetoxicum is more closely related to Tylophora, now included in Vincetoxicum. The generic name means "poison-beater" in Botanical Latin because of the plants' supposed antidotal effects against snakebite.

Funastrum Genus of plants

Funastrum is a genus of flowering plant now in the family Apocynaceae. The name is derived from the Latin word funis, meaning "rope", and astrum, alluding to the twining stems. Members of the genus are commonly known as twinevines.

Gongronema is a genus of plants first described as a genus in 1844. Some of the species are native to Africa, with others in South and Southeast Asia.

Jasminanthes Genus of plants

Jasminanthes is a plant genus in the family Apocynaceae, first described as a genus in 1850. It is native to China, Laos, Thailand and Vietnam.

 1. Jasminanthes chunii(Tsiang) W.D. Stevens & P.T. Li - Guangdong, Guangxi, Hunan
 2. Jasminanthes laotica Y.H. Tan & H.B. Ding - Laos
 3. Jasminanthes mucronata(Blanco) W.D. Stevens & P.T. Li - Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi, Guizhou, Hunan, Sichuan, Taiwan, Zhejiang
 4. Jasminanthes pilosa(Kerr) W.D. Stevens & P.T. Li - Guangxi, Yunnan, Thailand, Vietnam

 6. Jasminanthes tuyetanhiae T.B.Tran & Rodda - Vietnam
 7. Jasminanthesxuanlienensis T.B Tran & Rodda - Vietnam
Heterostemma Genus of flowering plants

Heterostemma is a genus of plants in the family Apocynaceae, first described in 1834. It is native to India, China, Taiwan, Southeast Asia, Australia, and certain islands in the Pacific.

Pachycarpus Genus of flowering plants

Pachycarpus is a genus of plants in the family Apocynaceae, first described in 1838. It is native to Africa.

Ruehssia Genus of plants

Ruehssia is a genus of plants in the family Apocynaceae. It is also in the Asclepiadoideae subfamily and Marsdenieae tribe.
