Mauro Nespoli (born 22 November 1987, in Voghera) is an Italian archer who was a member of the Italian teams that won gold at the 2012 Summer Olympics and silver at the 2008 Summer Olympics. [1] and individual silver at Tokyo 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics.
Nespoli was born in Voghera (Province of Pavia), the place where he has always lived. He first saw some archers when he was nine, while he was spending his holidays in Aprica (Sondrio). His coach is Luciano Malovini, who was an archer of the Paralympic Italian National Team. In spite of his hard training and attending archery events, Nespoli could achieve good marks at school. He got his graduation Diploma in 2006 and he is now attending university, in Pavia, studying Computer Engineering.
He won his first gold medal in the Italian "Giochi della Gioventù" (Youth Games) in 1998. When he was only fourteen, in 2002, he was picked for the Italian Junior National Team for the first time. Since 2006 he has been a member of the Italian Senior National Team, together with Marco Galiazzo and Michele Frangilli. In his brief sport career, Nespoli has already participated in 20 international competitions with the Italian National Team and achieved several records too.
At the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing Nespoli finished his ranking round with a total of 649 points. This made him the 44th seed for the final competition bracket in which he faced Alan Wills in the first round. Wills won the match 103–99 and went on to reach the third round in which he lost to Juan Carlos Stevens. [2]
Together with Marco Galiazzo and Ilario Di Buò he also took part in the team event. With his 649 score from the ranking round combined with the 667 of Galiazzo and the 670 of Di Buò the Italians were in sixth position after the ranking round. In the first round they were too strong for the Canadian team 219–217. They advanced to the semi-final by eliminating Malaysia 218–213. After that they reached the final by beating Ukraine 223–221. In the final they managed to get 225 points, but South Korea took the gold medal with 227 points. [2]
At the 2012 Summer Olympics, he was eleventh after the ranking round, scoring 674, but lost to Chen Yu-Cheng in the first round. [1] In the team event, Italy were ranked in 6th after the ranking round. Italy proceeded to beat Chinese Taipei 216–206 in the first round, China 220–216 in the quarterfinals, Mexico 217–215 in the semifinals and the United States 219–218 in the final. [1]
His final opponent at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics was Mete Gazoz who beat him 6–4. [3]
He won the bronze medal in the men's team recurve event at the 2022 European Indoor Archery Championships held in Laško, Slovenia. [4] He won the gold medal in the men's team recurve event at the 2022 European Archery Championships held in Munich, Germany. [5] Nespoli and Tatiana Andreoli won the bronze medal in the mixed team recurve event. [5] [6]

Naomi Anne Folkard is a British archer who has represented Great Britain at the Olympic Games five times between 2004 and 2020. She has also represented Great Britain at the World Archery Championships and the Archery World Cup, and England at the Commonwealth Games.

Victor Steven "Vic" Wunderle is an archer from the United States.
Marco Galiazzo is an athlete from Italy. He competes in archery for C.S. Aeronautica Militare, and is a former world number one. He was the first Olympic champion in the Italian archery history, winner of the gold medal in men's individual competition at Olympic Games – Athens 2004 and gold medal in team competition at the Olympic Games – London 2012.
Pia Carmen Maria Lionetti, is an Italian archer and twice a member of the Italian Olympic Team. She lives in Barletta and attends the University of Foggia.
The men's team archery competition at the 2012 Olympic Games in London was held from 27–28 July at Lord's Cricket Ground.
Rick van der Ven is a Dutch archer who started to practise archery at the age of 8.
The men's team recurve competition at the 2009 World Archery Championships took place on 4–9 September 2009 in Ulsan, South Korea. 33 teams of 3 archers took part in the men's recurve qualification round on 4 September. The 16 teams with the highest cumulative totals qualified for the 4-round knockout round on 7 September which was drawn according to their qualification round scores. The semi-finals and finals then took place on 8 September.
Marcus Vinicius Carvalho Lopes D'Almeida, known as Marcus D'Almeida, is a Brazilian athlete who competes in recurve archery. World runner-up in 2021. In February 2023, he became the first Brazilian to lead the world archery ranking in his category, the recurve bow.
Patrick Huston is a British two-time Olympian archer from Belfast, Northern Ireland. He captured three world championship titles under the youth level, and eventually competed as a member of the two person archery squad of Team GB at the 2016 Summer Olympics, in Rio, losing the first round match to the eventual champion Ku Bon-chan of South Korea. In the Tokyo 2020 Olympics his best result was a men's team 5th. Huston currently lives near Lilleshall National Sporting Centre and trained full-time under senior national coach Richard Priestman for Archery UK, while remaining a loyal founding member of East Belfast Archery Club. Riau Ega Agatha Salsabila is an Indonesian recurve archer. He represented Indonesia at the 2016 and 2020 Summer Olympics.
David Pasqualucci is an Italian competitive archer. He won a silver medal in the men's team recurve at the 2015 World Championships, and also competed as a member of Italy's archery squad at the 2016 Summer Olympics. He currently trains under the tutelage of his coaches Fabio Pivari and Wietse van Alten, a Sydney 2000 Olympian from the Netherlands, for the Italian team, while shooting at the Tempio di Diana Archery Range in Rome.
Mete Gazoz is a Turkish recurve archer. He won the gold medal in the men's individual event at the 2020 Summer Olympics held in Tokyo, Japan. He also represented Turkey at the 2016 Summer Olympics held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. In the 2023 World Archery Championships held in Berlin, Mete Gazoz emerged victorious, claiming the prestigious Individual title. In an intense final, he triumphed over the skilled Canadian archer Eric Peters, securing his place as the first Turkish archer to achieve the esteemed recurve gold medal in a World Championship.
The men's individual archery event was one of five archery events at the 2020 Summer Olympics. It was held at Yumenoshima Park. There were 64 competitors from 40 nations, with nations having either 1 or 3 archers.
The women's individual recurve competition at the 2019 European Games was held from 21 to 26 June 2019 at the Olympic Sports Complex in Minsk, Belarus. It was the second time the event was held as part of the European Games archery programme. A total of 48 archers from 32 different nations entered the competition, with a maximum of three entries per country. The event offered one qualifying spot for the women's individual event at the 2020 Summer Olympics for any archer reaching the semi-finals from a nation that had not already qualified. The defending champion, Karina Winter of Germany, did not take part following her retirement from the sport.
Tatiana Andreoli is an Italian recurve archer. At the 2019 European Games held in Minsk, Belarus, she won the gold medal in the women's individual recurve event.
Steve Wijler is a Dutch archer competing in men's recurve events. He won the bronze medal in the men's individual recurve event at the 2017 World Archery Championships held in Mexico City, Mexico. In 2021, Wijler and Gabriela Schloesser won the silver medal in the mixed team event at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.
Vanessa Landi is an Italian archer competing in women's recurve events. Landi and Mauro Nespoli won the bronze medal in the mixed team recurve event at the 2019 World Archery Championships held in 's-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands.
Michelle Kroppen is a German archer. She competed in the women's individual event, and women's team, at the 2020 Summer Olympics, winning a bronze medal.
Heorhiy Ivanytskyy is a Ukrainian archer. He is champion and bronze medalist of the 2015 European Games. He won silver medal at the 2021 European Championships in team event and multiple medals at the World Indoor Archery Championships.
