Murang'a is a town in Murang'a County of Kenya. Before the independence of Kenya in 1963, this town used to be called Fort Hall. It is the administrative centre of Murang'a County and is mainly inhabited by the Kikuyu community. According to the 2019 census, the town has a population of about 110,000.
Murang'a is located between Nyeri and Thika. The town of Maragua is located 10 kilometres south of Murang'a while Sagana town is 15 kilometres northeast. It lies on a latitude of -0.7167 (0° 43’ South) and longitude of 37.1500 (37° 8’ East)
The town is low, a bit hilly, small but picturesque with an altitude of 4120 ft (1255 metres) above sea level. As a result of the varying altitudes, Murang'a can get quite cold from May to mid-August, and can experience hail. To the west of the town can be seen the rolling Kikuyu farmlands that extend as far as the eyes can see.
Murang'a is a fast-growing town that attracts traders and farmers from the neighbouring districts. It has banks, petrol stations, a post office, lodges, nightclubs playing the latest local and Western music, restaurants serving local and exotic dishes, supermarkets, dry cleaners, and lively marketplaces. It also has a relatively busy bus and matatu transportation terminal. A district general hospital is located in the northern corner of the town. The town is accessible from Nairobi by Thika-Murang'a road and from Nyeri.
Murang'a County got its first governor in the year 2013 when H.E Mwangi Iria was elected by TNA ticket to be the first constitutional governor. [1]
Muranga has a tropical savannah climate (Aw) and is warmer than the adjacent highlands bordering it some few kilometres east. High temperatures can surpass 35 °C in the months of October to March. Those are the hottest months in the area. As mentioned, days can get really chilly from May to mid-August.

The Kikuyu are a Bantu ethnic group native to East Africa Central Kenya. At a population of 8,148,668 as of 2019, they account for 17.13% of the total population of Kenya, making them Kenya's largest ethnic group.

Although Thika town is administratively in Kiambu County, the greater Thika area comprising residential areas such as Bendor estate, Maporomoko, Thika Greens, Thika Golden Pearl, Bahati Ridge, and Thika Sports Club, among others, are within Murang'a County. Thika has a population of 279,429 which is growing rapidly, as is the entire greater Nairobi area. Its elevation is approximately 1,631 metres (5,351 ft).
Nyeri County is a county located in the central region of Kenya. Its capital and largest town is Nyeri. It has a population of 759,164 and an area of 2361 km2. Mutahi Kahiga was governor as of 2022. Previous governors include Nderitu Gachagua, who died while receiving treatment in London, Wamathai Samuel Githaiga, and Wahome Gakuru, who died in a road accident at Kabati near Kenol heading towards Thika Super Highway. It is also the home county of the third president of Kenya, the late President Mwai Kibaki.

Maragua is a town in the Muranga County, Kenya. It was previously the capital of the former Maragua District. The town is located along Thika–Sagana road just 10 km south of Murang'a. In 1999, Maragua town had an urban population of 4,286 and a total population of 27,384.
Mugo wa Kibiru or Chege (Cege) wa Kibiru was a Kenyan sage from the Gikuyu tribe who lived in the 18th and early 19th centuries. His name "Mugo" means "a healer". Mugo wa Kibiru was born in Kariara, Murang'a, near Thika, but his exact dates of birth and death are unknown.
Thika High School is a boys-only boarding high school located in Thika District in Central Province, Kenya. Thika High School was founded in 1951, while Kenya was still a British Colony, by the Alliance of Protestant Churches and the Church of Scotland Mission. It was originally set at the site of the current Thogoto Teachers College, but due to its proximity to another PCEA boys' school, Alliance Boys' High School, it was moved to Thika. The school is known for its academic and sports excellence from its foundation to the mid-1950s.
Nyeri High School, also known as Nyeri High, is a boys boarding school situated in Nyeri, Kenya near Mathari Consolata Mission Hospital, which provides secondary education as stipulated by the 8-4-4 Curriculum. Despite being acknowledged as an academic giant in the region, the school has also developed a notoriety for student unrest culminating in the death of four school prefects in a fire caused by student arson and followed a few years later by a student strike that led to an official government inquiry into the running of the school.

He is also the former Vice chairman of the Council of Governors of Kenya, having been elected in January 2019. He was elected on 4th March 2013 and subsequently in August 2017 for his second term. His famous campaign slogan is "Hapa kazi tu". He won the 2013 Kenyan gubernatorial elections under The National Alliance ticket and the 2017 elections under the Jubilee Party ticket.
