Washington County is a county located in the northeastern part of the U.S. state of Oklahoma. As of the 2010 census, the population was 50,976. Its county seat is Bartlesville. Named for President George Washington, it is the second smallest county in Oklahoma in total area, adjacent to the largest county in Oklahoma, Osage County.
Neodesha is a city in Wilson County, Kansas, United States. As of the 2010 census, the city population was 2,486. The name is derived from the Osage Indian word, Ni-o-sho-de, and is translated as The-Water-Is-Smoky-With-Mud.
Bois d'Arc is an unincorporated community in Butler County, Kansas, United States. It is located about six miles southeast of Augusta in Bloomington Township.
Fort Osage was an early 19th-century factory trading post system run by the United States Government, on the American frontier being located in present-day Sibley, Missouri. The Treaty of Fort Clark was signed with certain members of the Osage Nation in 1808 calling for the creation of Fort Osage. It was one of three forts established by the U.S. Army to establish control over the newly acquired Louisiana Purchase territories. Fort Madison in SE Iowa was built to control trade and pacify Native Americans in the Upper Mississippi River region. Fort Belle Fontaine near St. Louis controlled the mouth of the Missouri. The fort ceased operations in the 1820s as the Osage in subsequent treaties ceded the rest of their land in Missouri. A replica of the fort was rebuilt on the site between 1948 and 1961. The Fort Osage school district, which serves northeast Independence and the surrounding area, was named after it.

The Council Grove Historic District is a National Historic Landmark District located in Council Grove, Kansas, United States. It consists of six discontiguous areas in the city important in the history of the Santa Fe Trail and American migration to the west in the 19th century. Council Grove was named for the occasion of an 1825 treaty negotiation between the Osage Indians and the US Federal government which guaranteed the Santa Fe caravans safe passage through Osage territory. The landmark was designated in 1963.
Norman No. 1 Oil Well Site is the site of an abandoned oil well, located at the northeast corner of Mill and First Streets in Neodesha, Kansas, USA. The well, which was drilled on November 28, 1892, was the first successful well in what is now known as the Mid-Continent oil field, kicking off a major oil boom in states from Kansas to Texas and Louisiana. The well site, now a small municipal park, was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1977.
The U.S. Post Office-Lindsborg is a Classical Revival building at 125 East Lincoln Street in Lindsborg, Kansas. The post office building was constructed in 1938 and added to the National Historic Register in 1989. It is 68 by 55 feet in plan.
Fort Belle Fontaine is a former U.S. military base located in St. Louis County, Missouri, across the Mississippi and Missouri rivers from Alton, Illinois. The fort was the first U.S. military installation west of the Mississippi, in the newly acquired Louisiana Territory, and served as a starting point for many expeditions to the American West.

The United States Post Office, located at 825 1st Avenue E., is the main post office serving Horton, Kansas. The Neoclassical building was built circa 1937-38 and designed by Supervising Architect Louis Simon. The inside of the post office includes two murals, both painted by Kenneth Evett for the Treasury Department's post office mural program; the additional mural is unusual for a small post office. The first mural, titled Picnic in Kansas, was completed in 1938 and depicts a large family at a picnic. The second mural, titled Changing of Horses for the Pony Express, was completed the following year and shows a Pony Express rider leaving a station.

The Geneva United States Post Office is a historic building in Geneva, Nebraska. It was built in 1939–1940, and designed in the Georgian Revival style by architect Louis A. Simon. Inside, there is a mural by Edward Chávez, completed in 1941. The mural was cleaned and restored in 1981 and was then in excellent condition.
