Parit Jawa is a mukim in Muar District, Johor, Malaysia. [1] [2]

The population consists of approximately 80% Malay (primarily of Javanese descent), 14% Chinese, and 6% Indian. The area is located along the curve of the Malacca Straits and is known for Pantai Leka, a notable center for fresh aquatic resources available at reasonable prices. The main connecting roads are Jalan Jabbar, Jalan Mahmood, Jalan Temenggong Ahmad, and Jalan Omar.

A notable culinary offering in the area is Asam Pedas, appreciated for its tangy and spicy taste. It is commonly available near the beach where fishing boats are moored. In the nearby small and welcoming community of Parit Jawa, a range of traditional Muar-style breakfast options can be found, including Nasi Lemak, Lontong, assorted Satay, and Me Rebus.

Residents from neighboring districts and even other states often visit the main fish market known as 'Pasar Parit Jawa' to purchase fresh seafood such as fish, crabs, and shrimp, as well as fresh vegetables. These items are available at reasonable prices.

Under the governance of the Government of Johor, the residents of the area coexist harmoniously across various ethnicities.

In addition to fishing, the boats also offer special charters for fishing enthusiasts to explore the islands along the Malacca Straits.

Parit Jawa covers an area of 71 square kilometers and has a population of 11,319 residents. [3]

The Muar State Railway (MSR) (Malay: Keretapi Kerajaan Muar ; Jawi: كريتاڤي كراجأن موار) was a railroad operating in the district of Muar in Johor, Malaya. Significantly, the MSR was the second railway line to operate in Johor after the short-lived Johore Wooden Railway (JWR), and began operation in 1890, five years after the opening of Perak Railway's Taiping-Port Weld line. In comparison to the JWR, the MSR was more successful commercially, operating for 39 years before facing closure under stiff competition coupled with rising operation costs.

Tun Sulaiman bin Ninam Shah was a Malaysian businessman and veteran politician. He was also former member of Johore State Council for Muar Coastal (1954–1959) and Johor State Legislative Assembly for Parit Jawa (1959-1964), former Senator (1979-1985) and the 6th Deputy President of the Dewan Negara (1982-1985). He was one of the founders of United Malays National Organisation (UMNO) and former Permanent Chairman of UMNO (1976-2003).
