Bukit Kepong is a mukim in Muar District, Johor, Malaysia. It is located near the Muar River. [1]
The town is infamous for the tragic Bukit Kepong Incident. The government has built a museum to commemorate the actions of the Bukit Kepong police force against the communists, colloquially known as Bintang Tiga (Three Stars). Situated near the Muar river, the museum is opened everyday except on Mondays, with an inexpensive entrance fee. Visitors will get a chance to experience the history of the Bukit Kepong incident through its modern and interactive display galleries.
Bukit Kepong spreads over 256 km2 of land with a population of 10,174 people. [2] One of the restaurant here is the floating restaurant on Muar river famous for its silver catfish (patin in Malay) dishes.
Ipoh is the capital city of the Malaysian state of Perak. Bakri or often Bukit Bakri is a town in Muar District, Johor, Malaysia. It is located along Federal Route in Muar district, just five kilometers east of Muar town. In 1991, it had a population of 10,000, which doubled by the 2000 census to 20,123. Now Bukit Bakri population is 30,280.
Bukit Kepong incident was an armed encounter in 1950 during the Malayan Emergency between the Federation of Malaya Police and the guerrillas of the Malayan National Liberation Army (MNLA), the armed wing of the Malayan Communist Party (MCP). This conflict took place in an area surrounding the Bukit Kepong police station in Bukit Kepong. The wooden station was located on the river banks of the Muar River, about 59 km from Muar town, Johor.
Gua Musang is a town, district and parliamentary constituency in southern Kelantan, Malaysia. It is the largest district in Kelantan. Gua Musang is administered by the Gua Musang District Council. Gua Musang district is bordered by the state of Pahang to the south, Terengganu to the east, Perak to the west and the Kelantanese districts of Kuala Krai and Jeli to the north. The Muar District is a district in Johor, Malaysia. Muar is located at the mouth of the Muar River, on the coast of the Straits of Malacca. The Muar District covers 1,354 km2 (523 sq mi), with a population of 233,779 (2010).
Muar or Bandar Maharani, is a historical town and the capital of Muar District, Johor, Malaysia. It is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Malaysia to be visited and explored for its food, coffee and historical prewar buildings. It was recently declared as the royal town of Johor by Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar and is the fourth largest city in Johor. He served as the 17th Menteri Besar of Johor from April 2019 to the collapse of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) state administration in February 2020 and Member of the Johor State Executive Council (EXCO) also in the PH state administration under former Menteri Besar Osman Sapian from May 2018 to his promotion to Menteri Besarship in April 2019. He is a member of the Malaysian United Indigenous Party (BERSATU), a component party of the ruling Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition.
