Johor Bahru, colloquially referred to as JB, is the capital city of the state of Johor, Malaysia and the core city of Johor Bahru District, the second-largest district in the country, by population. It is the second-largest national GDP-contributor among the major cities in Malaysia, and forms a part of Iskandar Malaysia, the nation's largest special economic zone, by investment value. The city has a population of 858,118 people within an area of 391.25 km2.
Sultan Sir Ibrahim Al-Masyhur ibni Almarhum Sultan Abu Bakar Al-Khalil Ibrahim Shah was a Malaysian sultan and the 2nd modern Sultan of Johor and 22nd Sultan of Johor overall. He was considered "fabulously wealthy."
Sultan Sir Abu Bakar Al-Khalil Ibrahim Shah ibni Almarhum Maharaja Tun Daeng Ibrahim was the Temenggong of Johor. He was the 1st sultan of modern Johor, the 21st Sultan of Johor and the first Maharaja of Johor from the House of Temenggong. He was also informally known as "The Father of Modern Johor", as many historians accredited Johor's development in the 19th century to Abu Bakar's leadership. He initiated policies and provided aids to ethnic Chinese entrepreneurs to stimulate the development of the state's agricultural economy which was founded by Chinese migrants from southern China in the 1840s. He also took charge of the development of Johor's infrastructure, administrative system, military and civil service, all of which were modelled closely along Western lines.
Dato' Sir Onn bin Dato' Jaafar was a Malayan politician who served as the 7th Menteri Besar of Johor from 1947 to 1950. His organised opposition towards the creation of the Malayan Union led him to form the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO) in 1946; he was UMNO's founder and its first president until his resignation in 1951. He was famously known as the pioneer of organised anti-imperialism and early Malay nationalism within Malaya, which eventually culminated with the Malayan independence from Britain. He was also responsible for the social and economic welfare of the Malays by setting up the Rural Industrial Development Authority (RIDA).
Duli Yang Maha Mulia is the title of the state anthem of Selangor, Malaysia. It was adopted in 1967. The writer of the lyrics is unknown The music was written by Saiful Bahri, who also wrote and composed the Malaccan state anthem, Melaka Maju Jaya.
"Berkatlah Yang DiPertuan Besar Negeri Sembilan" is the state anthem of Negeri Sembilan. It was composed by Andrew Caldecott (1884–1951) with lyrics by Tunku Zakaria Mambang. It was adopted as an official state anthem in 1911 at the behest of Tuanku Muhammad Shah (1865–1933), the seventh Yang di-Pertuan Besar, who ruled Negeri Sembilan from 1888 to 1933.

Majlis Perbandaran Muar Football Club or commonly known MP Muar FC was a Malaysian football club based in Muar, Johor. The club home ground was the Sultan Ibrahim Mini Stadium in Muar. The club had formerly played in the Malaysian League's second division as well as second-tier professional Malaysia Premier League for three consecutive 2010, 2011 and 2012 seasons; before the new direction of Johor Football Association (JFA) for all clubs from Johor including MP Muar FC to pull out from the Malaysia Premier League at the end of 2012 season to join State League, the PBNJ State League only.
The Royal Johor Military Force is an independent military force of the state of Johor and the private royal guard of Sultan of Johor in Malaysia. The JMF is Malaysia's oldest active military unit still in operation and the only military in the Federation that is maintained by a state. The force comes under the control of the Sultan. Its headquarters are located at Sultan Ibrahim Camp, Johor Bahru.
Raja Zarith Sofiah binti Almarhum Sultan Idris Shah is the Queen of Malaysia and the Permaisuri of Johor as a wife of Sultan Ibrahim ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar. She was born as a member of the Perak royal family. While still attending Somerville College, Oxford, she married the heir to the throne of Johor. Now a mother of six, she participates in the work of non-governmental organisations and universities, and writes a periodical column for a newspaper.
