Panama's national public holidays are:
The holidays in November (starting from Separation Day), are called the Fiestas Patrias ("National Holidays"). [3] All of Panama’s National Holidays are in the month of November. On November 3 the country celebrated its separation from Colombia in 1903. Panama became a part of the Great Colombia after receiving its independence from Spain on November 28, 1821. The United States helped in this separation process as they had a vested interest in building the Panama Canal. November 4 is the day of the Panamanian National Symbols which celebrates the flag, coats of arms and national anthem. The 5th of November is the Separation of Colon from Colombia where the last Colombian troops remained. November 10 is the Cry of Independence (from Spain) which is mainly celebrated in La Villa de Los Santos.
These dates are all national festivities, except November 4 which is a work day but most people compensate by working extra hours to be able to take it off. Expect a lot of movement to the countryside, especially on the 3, 4 and 5 of November when most hotels get full. Tourism on the 10 and 28 depends on the holiday being on a Monday or Friday, making it a long weekend. [4]

Many styles of Colombian music are also performed, most prominently cumbia, and instruments include drums and wind ensembles. The Carnival of Barranquilla was proclaimed a Cultural Masterpiece of the Nation by Colombia's National Congress in 2002. Also the UNESCO, in Paris on November 7, 2003, declared it one of the Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity, and it was during Olga Lucia Rodriguez Carnival Queen year.

The Department of the Isthmus was one of the departments of the Republic of Gran Colombia. It was created in 1824 and named after the Isthmus of Panama. It covered the territory of what is now the country of Panama and some disputed coastal territories farther northward along the Caribbean shoreline of present-day Costa Rica and Nicaragua.
The Panama State, officially known as the Federal State of Panama from 1855 to 1863, and as the Sovereign State of Panama from 1863 until 1886 when it was dissolved, was established as one of the states of the Republic of Gran Colombia established in 1821 after independence from the Spanish Empire and was later part of the Republic of New Granada, the Granadine Confederation, and the United States of Colombia. La Villa de los Santos also known La Heroica Villa de Los Santos, is the capital city and a corregimiento of the Los Santos District of Los Santos Province, Panama. It is at the left edge of La Villa River. Founded as Santa Cruz in 1555 by Juan Rodriguez Monjaraz, the then governor of the region, the city is known for First Cry of Independence and the population's efforts in the movement to separate Panama from Spanish power in November 1821.
Independence of Panama from Spain was accomplished through a bloodless revolt between 10 November 1821 and 28 November 1821. Seizing the opportunity, when the Spanish governor left Panama to march on rebellious Ecuadorians, José de Fábrega led a push for independence. Rebels in the small town of Villa de Los Santos made the first declaration for independence and the movement quickly spread to the capital. Fearing that Spain would retake the country, the rebels quickly joined the Republic of Gran Colombia.
The Declaration of Independence of Panama is the document through which Panama declared its independence from the Spanish Empire on November 28, 1821. It was proclaimed in the Cathedral Plaza of Panama City after a council of leaders had met and drafted twelve points calling for severing Panama's relationship with the Spanish Crown and joining with the newly formed Republic of Gran Colombia.
