Prerana "Rinku" Mahadeo Rajguru (born 3 June 2001) is an Indian actress primarily working in Marathi and Hindi language films, best known for her role in the film Sairat for which she won a National Film Award and two Filmfare Awards Marathi. [2] [3]

Personal life

Rajguru was born in Akluj town of Maharashtra to Mahadeo Rajguru on 3 June 2001. [1] [4] She had received 66.40% in 10th class exam from a school in her hometown of Akluj. She studied from Tembhurni's Jai Tuljabhavani Arts and Science Junior Ashram College and scored 82% in 12th standard Maharashtra State Board examination. [5]

Career

In 2016, she made her debut with Nagraj Manjule's Sairat and won a National Film Award - Special Jury Award / Special Mention (Feature Film) at the 63rd National Film Awards for her performance. [2] [6] She also won two Filmfare Awards Marathi in category of Best Female Debut and Best Actress at Filmfare Awards Marathi 2017. [7]

In the Kannada remake of Sairat, Manasu Mallige , Rajguru reprised her role. [8] [9] Later, she appeared in films like Kaagar, [10] Makeup, [11] Unpaused , and Aathva Rang Premacha . [12]

In 2022, she made her Bollywood debut with Jhund . [13] . After a series of flops, in 2023 she appeared in critically and commercial successful film Jhimma 2 . [14]

Rajguru debuted in digital space through Hotstar's action-comedy Hundred , released in 2020. [15] [16] . In 2021, she was seen in ZEE5's 200 Halla Ho . [17]

Jhund is a 2022 Indian Hindi-language biographical sports film based on the life of Vijay Barse, the founder of NGO Slum Soccer. It is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Sandip Singh, Raaj Hiremath, Savita Hiremath, Nagraj Manjule, Gargee Kulkarni and Meenu Arora under the banner of T-Series, Tandav Films Entertainment Pvt.Ltd and Aatpat Films. <i>Jhimma</i> 2021 Marathi drama film

Jhimma is a 2021 Indian Marathi-language drama film directed by Hemant Dhome for Chalchitra Company. The film, written by Irawati Karnik and based on a story by Dhome, has an ensemble cast of Suhas Joshi, Nirmiti Sawant, Sonalee Kulkarni, Siddharth Chandekar, Kshitee Jog, Suchitra Bandekar, Mrinmayee Godbole, and Sayali Sanjeev. The story of the film revolves around a group of seven women travelling to London and discovering themselves. Sairat is the soundtrack album composed and written by Ajay–Atul, to the 2016 Marathi film of the same name, directed by Nagraj Manjule that stars Rinku Rajguru and Akash Thosar in lead roles. The film was produced by Nittin Keni, Nikhil Sane and Nagraj Manjule under the productions Zee Studios, Essel Vision Productions and Aatpat Productions. The four-song soundtrack was released under the Zee Music Company label on 1 April 2016, to critical acclaim and fetched numerous accolades. Sairat notably the first Indian film to record the musical score at the Sony Scoring Stage in California.

Jhimma 2 is a 2023 Indian Marathi language drama film directed by Hemant Dhome and the second installment in the Jhimma series. It has an ensemble cast of Suhas Joshi, Nirmiti Sawant, Siddharth Chandekar, Kshitee Jog, Suchitra Bandekar, Sayali Sanjeev, Shivani Surve, Rinku Rajguru. The film continuing the story of the last film, is a reunion of a group of women exploring friendships and celebrating the 75th birthday of Indumati (Joshi) in a trip to London.
