LaPorte County is a county located in the U.S. state of Indiana. As of 2020,the population was 112,417. The county seat is the city of La Porte,and the largest city is Michigan City. This county is part of the Northwest Indiana and Michiana regions of the Chicago metropolitan area. The LaPorte County Courthouse is located in the county seat of La Porte and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Like Arizona,Idaho,Hawaii,Montana,and Washington;the redistricting is completed within an independent,bipartisan commission. The apportionment of members of the Redistricting Commission is carefully balanced between legislative and executive majorities and is purposefully designed to allow the minority party an equal number of seats on the commission. This commission deals with districts for the U.S. House of Representatives while the New Jersey Apportionment Commission deals with legislative districts for the New Jersey Legislature.
B. Patrick Bauer is an American politician who served as Speaker of the Indiana House of Representatives from 2003 to 2005 and 2007 to 2011. A Democratic member of the Indiana House of Representatives,he has represented the 6th House District since 1970. His district consists primarily of the city of South Bend in St. Joseph County in northern Indiana. On January 28,2020,Bauer announced that he would not be running for reelection.

The 2011 Legislative Walkout in Indiana occurred during February and March when the Democratic minority,inspired by the 2011 Wisconsin protests,fled the state to deny the Indiana House of Representatives quorum needed to pass a controversial right-to-work bill,which would have removed the legal requirement that employees pay union dues. The walkout lasted nearly six weeks,and the majority responded by fining the missing members and withholding their pay. The walkout ended after the majority agreed to table three bills,including the one that sparked the walkout,from the agenda.

The 2016 Indiana gubernatorial election was held on November 8,2016,to elect the governor and lieutenant governor of Indiana,concurrently with the 2016 U.S. presidential election as well as elections to the United States Senate and elections to the United States House of Representatives and various state and local elections. The primaries were held on May 3,2016. Republican lieutenant governor Eric Holcomb won the race with 51.4% of the vote.
Jeremy Allen Moss is an American politician from Southfield,Michigan currently representing the 7th State Senate District,which includes all of Auburn Hills,Bloomfield Hills,Bloomfield Township,Lake Angelus,Lathrup Village,Pontiac,Southfield,and parts of Detroit,Southfield Township,and Waterford Township. A member of the Democratic Party,he is the first openly LGBT person elected to the Michigan Senate,as well as the first to serve as President Pro Tempore. Moss previously served in the Michigan House of Representatives from 2014 - 2018,and remains the youngest-ever member of the Southfield City Council.

A member of the Democratic Party,Boy represents Indiana's 9th House district,which contains Michigan City and the surrounding area. Prior to her election to the state house,Boy was a member of the Michigan City Common Council from 2004 to 2018.
