Sibu Town in Sarawak, Malaysia

Sibu is an inland town in the central region of Sarawak. It is the capital of Sibu District in Sibu Division, Sarawak, Malaysia. The town is located on the island of Borneo and covers an area of 129.5 square kilometres (50.0 sq mi). It is located at the confluence of the Rajang and Igan Rivers, some 60 kilometres from the South China Sea and approximately 191.5 kilometres (119 mi) north-east of the state capital Kuching. Sibu is mainly populated by people of Chinese descent, mainly from Fuzhou. Other ethnic groups such as Melanau, Malay, and Iban are also present, but unlike other regions of Sarawak, they are not as significant. The town population as of 2010 is 162,676.

The Meradong District is located in Sarikei Division, Sarawak, Malaysia. The capital of Meradong District is Bintangor, Sarawak. The official census in 2006 stated Meradong as covering 719 sq km, making it the smallest district of Sarawak in terms of geographic area, and the district population from the 2010 National Census was 28,672. It is situated nearby Repok. Bintangor town has four secondary schools, SMK Meradong, SMK Bandar Bintangor, SMK Kai Chung, and SMK Tong Hua. There are also 32 primary schools, of which 18 are national schools (SK) and 14 are national type schools. Malaysian Teachers Education Institute Rajang Campus is also situated at about 17 kilometres from Bintangor town.

Datuk Joseph Entulu Belaun is a Malaysian politician. He was a Minister in the Prime Minister's Department and a Member of Parliament of Malaysia for the Selangau constituency in Sarawak, representing the Sarawak People's Party (PRS) from 2004 until the dissolution of the Parliament on 7 April 2018.

Selangau, Sarawak, is a small town located by the Pan Borneo Highway. It is also located by Batang Mukah, a river which flows to the South China Sea. It is located approximately 74 km (46 mi) from Sibu town, 84 km (52 mi) from Mukah town and 134 km (83 mi) from Bintulu town. Selangau town is the administrative centre for the Selangau District.

Baru Bian Malaysian politician

Baru Bian is a Malaysian politician who served as the Minister of Works in the Pakatan Harapan (PH) administration under former Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad from July 2018 to the collapse of the PH administration in February 2020. He has served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Selangau since May 2018 and Member of the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Ba'kelalan since April 2011. He is a member of the Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB), an opposition party and was a member and State Chairman of the People's Justice Party (PKR) of Sarawak, a component of the PH coalition. In February 2020, he was one of the 10 MPs who aligned with then-Deputy President of PKR, Mohamed Azmin Ali who was against the President of PKR Anwar Ibrahim and resigned from the party. However, he did not follow their suit to join the Malaysian United Indigenous Party (BERSATU) and form the Perikatan Nasional (PN) administration to take over PH administration, instead, he carried on aligning himself with the PH coalition and subsequently joined the PSB which is an opposition party and in the same side with PH opposition coalition. He created history by becoming the first federal minister from the Lun Bawang community.

Sibu District Place

Sibu District is an administrative district in Sibu Division, Sarawak, Malaysia covering a total area of 2229.8 km2. It can be divided into Sibu Town area (129.5 km2) and the rural areas (2,100.3 km2). The satellite township of Sibu Jaya is included in the rural areas. Sibu District is under the purview of Sibu District Office located at Sibu Islamic Complex, Sibu Town. There are currently two local authorities namely Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) and Sibu Rural District Council (SRDC) that administers Sibu Town and Sibu rural areas respectively.
