Bukit Mabong is a district, in Kapit Division, Sarawak, Malaysia. [1] [2]

History

Bukit Mabong district is one of 9 newly created districts in Sarawak and was officially declared as a district on 3 November 2015 which was officiated by the Most Honorable Chief Minister of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Haji Adenan Bin Haji Satem.

Administration

Bukit Mabong District is administered by the Bukit Mabong District Office. The administrative boundary of Bukit Mabong district starts from the Batu Bansu area up to the upstream area, including 3 villages that were previously under the administration of the Belaga District, namely Long Busang, Long Unai and Sang Anau. Bukit Mabong district has an area of about 11,976 square kilometers and is inhabited by about 22,145 people.

Demographics

There's about 22,145 people live in the Bukit Mabong district. In Long Busang, there are about 1000 people living in the village. They consist of the Kenyah Badeng tribe. 70 percent of the residents in Long Busang are Christians while the rest are Muslims.

Geography

Bukit Mabong is located in the Tunoh area, in the northern part of Baleh. It is also located in the Hose Mountains. Among the cultural landscape features found here are Bukit Batu which is the highest point in the district at 2,028 meters, Gunung Gelanggang, Bukit Batu Tiban which is located in the Malaysia-Indonesia border, Sungai Balleh and Sungai Balui. Bukit Mabong borders the districts of Kapit, Belaga and Song as well as the provinces of East Kalimantan and West Kalimantan in Indonesia.

Punan Bah Ethnic group from Borneo

Punan Bah or Punan is an ethnic group found in Sarawak, Malaysia and in Kalimantan, Indonesia. The Punan Bah people are distinct and unrelated to the semi-nomadic Penan people. Their name stems from two rivers along the banks of which they have been living since time immemorial. They do have other names: Mikuang Bungulan or Mikuang and Aveang Buan. But those terms are only used ritually these days.

The Kenyah people are an indigenous, Austronesian-speaking people of Borneo, living in the remote Baram, Data Kakus, Data Surau, Senap River, Long Dungan, Long Busang, Long Beyak, Bintulu, Miri, Asap River resettlement for Bakun Dam, Long Bulan, Long Jawe and Belaga regions in Sarawak, Malaysia and the remote Apau Kayan, Bahau (Bau), Benua Lama, Benua Baru and Mahakam regions in East Kalimantan, Indonesia.

Bario Town in Sarawak, Malaysia

Bario is a community of 13 to 16 villages located on the Kelabit Highlands in Miri Division, Sarawak, Malaysia, lying at an altitude of 1000 m (3280 ft) above sea level. Usun Apau Plieran is a remote abandoned Kenyah Jamuk, Badeng and Lepu Aga' village settled in 1860, Belaga district. To be exact, Usun Apau Plieran is located at the upstream of Sungai Plieran and Sungai Tiyut. The highest peak that close to this area are Bukit Busing 1300m and Mudung Batu Bora about 1450m. There are a few old longhouse sites in this area such as Long Metalon, Long Ampan Aing, Long Bora, Long Taa, Ka Laeh, Lidung Jelo and Lolau Mabo.

Sarawak rabies outbreak

The Sarawak rabies outbreak is an ongoing rabies outbreak in the state of Sarawak in Malaysia. Until 13 March 2021, 33 confirmed rabies cases and 31 deaths have been reported.

Long Busang also known as Kampung Long Busang (Lobus) is a village in a rural area located in Bukit Mabong, Sarawak, Malaysia. It is a village in the Ulu Sungai Balui and dominated by the Kenyah Badeng people.
