Spaoh is a small town and a sub-district in Betong District, Betong Division in the state of Sarawak, Malaysia.
Geographically (not administratively), Spaoh is divided into areas such as Ili Pasar Spaoh (Spaoh downriver),Buda Area, Paku Ili (Brutan), Ulu Paku and Ulu Anyut.
Small Spaoh was established by the Chinese People Hakka Chinese in 1946. Back then, there were four blocks of shops, with eight shops in each block.
These four blocks of shops encircled Spaoh Wharf. [1] Presently, the Spaoh town still consists of these four block of shops.
The town throve in the 1960s following the boom in rubber prices. [1] Rubber products were shipped out from Spaoh to Kuching via the small settlement of Pusa. By the 1970s, the town's economy started to decline due to competition from other towns and settlements nearly especially Debak Town. [1]

This is because Debak District is a rapidly developing urbanization area where it is located on a very strategic route in the middle of a busy trade route that can directly connect Betong Town and Spaoh Town with Saratok Town and Pusa Town through the access road connecting directly to the Pan Borneo Highway. Not only that, with the availability of Petrol Station facilities near the same route accelerates the process of urbanization and internal and external migration in Debak District, which at the same time has increased the population in Debak District.

Bukit Saban is a town in the district of Spaoh, Betong Division, Sarawak. The area was a tourist resort, but went bankrupt and was closed down. The resort has since been converted into a Malaysian National Service training camp for government officers.

Ong Seok Kim was an educationist, social worker, philanthropist and entrepreneur. He was born in Yongchun County, Southern Fujian Province in China and migrated to the then Malaya in 1903. As an entrepreneur, Ong began building up his wealth through trading in supplies for tin miners in the Ipoh/Gopeng area in the state of Perak, and later as a local trader in Sitiawan, Manjung District, also in Perak. He continued building his wealth through establishing retail shops, and later through investment in rubber estates and commercial properties in Manjung District and as far as Betong in Thailand. The wealth he created would later be used towards various charity and education projects in Manjung District, and in particular, Sitiawan town.
Bukit Saban is a state constituency in Sarawak, Malaysia, that has been represented in the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly since 2006.
