Fredericksburg, Virginia Independent city in Commonwealth of Virginia, United States

Fredericksburg is an independent city located in the Commonwealth of Virginia in the United States. As of the 2010 census, the population was 24,286, up from 19,279 at the 2000 census. The city population was estimated at 28,360 in 2017. The Bureau of Economic Analysis of the United States Department of Commerce combines the city of Fredericksburg with neighboring Spotsylvania County for statistical purposes.

The Smithfield Plantation is a former sugar plantation with a historic mansion in Port Allen, Louisiana, U.S. [2] It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since April 7, 1995. [3]

Located on the west bank of the Mississippi River, it is bordered by Interstate 10 and US Highway 190. The population was 5,180 at the 2010 census, down from 5,278 in 2000. It is part of the Baton Rouge Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Smithfield (Blacksburg, Virginia)

Smithfield is a plantation outside Blacksburg, Virginia built from 1772 to 1774 as a home by Col. William Preston. It was the birthplace of two Virginia Governors: James Patton Preston and John B. Floyd. The house remained a family home until 1959 when the home was donated to the APVA.

Fall Hill

Fall Hill is a plantation located near the falls on the Rappahannock River in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Though the Thornton family has lived at Fall Hill since the early 18th century, the present house was built in 1790 for Francis Thornton V (1760–1836). The land on which Fall Hill is located is part of an 8,000 acres (3,200 ha) land patent obtained by Francis Thornton I (1657–1727) around 1720. The present-day town of Fredericksburg, Virginia is located on that original patent.

It was built about 1842, and is a two-story, five bay, double pile, brick dwelling. It has a high hipped roof and four interior end chimneys. It features a wide single front entrance door framed by unfluted Roman Doric order columns supporting a plain entablature. Also on the property is a contributing slave house.

Smithfield Farm is a historic plantation house and farm located near Berryville, Clarke County, Virginia, United States. The manor house was completed in 1824, and is a two-story, five-bay, brick dwelling in the Federal style. It has a low-hipped roof and front and rear porticos. Also on the property are a schoolteacher's residence and a combination farm office and a summer kitchen, each with stepped parapet faҫades. Also on the property are the contributing large brick bank barn (1822), a brick equipment shed, a slave quarters, and a stone stable, all built around 1820, and a wooden barn.

The house was built in 1750, and is a two-story, three bay, Georgian style brick dwelling with a gambrel roof. The interior features a center-passage single-pile plan. Also on the property are the contributing garden and well, smokehouse / frame shed, and kitchen foundation. In 1802, its owner Timothy Tynes granted manumission of his 81 slaves and the division of his 4,000 acre estate primarily to his slaves.

Fredericksburg Gun Manufactory Site archaeological site and former factory in Fredericksburg, Virginia, USA

The Fredericksburg Gun Manufactory Site is a historic archaeological site in Fredericksburg, Virginia. The manufactory was founded in 1775 by Charles Dick and Fielding Lewis, proprietor of the nearby Kenmore Plantation, and brother-in-law to George Washington, to provide guns and ammunition to the Continental Army and state militia during the American Revolutionary War. Lewis in particular invested more than £7000 in the endeavour, for which he was never compensated by either the state or the Continental Congress. The factory was closed at the end of the war.
