Thiruvananthapuram Parliamentary (Lok Sabha) Constituency is one of the 20 parliamentary constituencies in Kerala, India. It is located in Thiruvananthapuram district and encompasses the major part of Thiruvananthapuram city, the capital of Kerala State.
The incumbent MP of this constituency is Dr. Shashi Tharoor of the Indian National Congress, who has been elected consecutively on 4 occasions- 2009, 2014, 2019 and 2024. He is also the longest serving Member of Parliament representing the Thiruvananthapuram constituency.
As per the electoral roll for 2024 polls, the total electorate is of 14,03,281 people including 7,27,469 women, 6,75,771 men and 41 transgenders. [2] Out of total electorate, 26% is rural and 74% is urban. The Scheduled castes (SC) and Scheduled tribes (ST) is 9.82% and 0.45%, respectively of total electorate. As per Census 2011 estimates the Thiruvananthapuram district has 66.46% Hindus, 19.10% Christians and 13.72% Muslims. [3] [4] The constituency also has highest proportion of Nadars and Converted Christians in Kerala. [5]
As per the voter list published by the Election commission for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, there were 13,34,665 voters in the electorate and 1077 polling stations in this constituency. [6] The voter turnout for the 2019 Lok Sabha election was 73.45% where as it was 68.63% and 65.74% in the 2014 and 2009 elections respectively. [7]

Shashi Tharoor is an Indian politician, writer, and former diplomat, who has been serving as Member of Parliament for Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, since 2009. He is currently the Chairman of Committee on External Affairs. He was formerly an Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and unsuccessfully ran for the post of Secretary-General in 2006. Founder-Chairman of All India Professionals Congress, he formerly served as Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on External Affairs and on Informational Technology. He has about two dozen titles to his credit and was awarded by World Economic Forum as "Global Leader of Tomorrow".
Kazhakoottam is a major urban area in the capital city of Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala state, India. The largest IT Park of the country in terms of developed area Technopark along with Technocity an upcoming integrated IT township is situated here. Hence it is known as the Information Technology capital of Kerala. It is one of the fastest growing area of the state.

V. S. Sivakumar is an Indian politician who is a member of Indian National Congress and a former Minister for Health, Family Welfare and Devaswom, Government of Kerala in the Second Oommen Chandy ministry. He has represented the Thiruvananthapuram Assembly constituency in Kerala from 2011 Assembly election in Kerala to 2021. He was a member of the 13th Lok Sabha representing Thiruvananthapuram Lok Sabha constituency.
Ramya Haridas is an Indian politician and social worker, who served as Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha (MP) from Alathur Lok Sabha constituency, Kerala, from 2019 to 2024. She is a member of the Indian National Congress in the state of Kerala and the daughter of All India Mahila Congress worker Radha. She is the only female parliamentarian to be elected from the state of Kerala in the elections of 2019. She is also the second-ever Dalit woman MP to have been elected from Kerala.
