Ward Wellington Ward (1875–1932) was an American architect who worked mostly in Syracuse, New York. He designed more than 250 buildings, of which more than 120 were built and survive. He was influenced by, and contributed to, the Arts and Crafts movement in architecture. Ward's work is in varying styles, but the houses most typically include crafts-like details such as decorative cutouts in shutters. His designs almost always include garages, gateways, and other small structures like gazebos.

Smithfield Farm is a historic plantation house and farm located near Berryville, Clarke County, Virginia, United States. The manor house was completed in 1824, and is a two-story, five-bay, brick dwelling in the Federal style. It has a low-hipped roof and front and rear porticos. Also on the property are a schoolteacher's residence and a combination farm office and a summer kitchen, each with stepped parapet faҫades. Also on the property are the contributing large brick bank barn (1822), a brick equipment shed, a slave quarters, and a stone stable, all built around 1820, and a wooden barn.

Built in 1913, the Prairie School house features a roof with a low pitch and overhanging eaves, a front porch, and a horizontal emphasis throughout its design. The home was originally owned by John E. and Ruth Hipple, both of whom were prominent Pierre citizens. John served as Pierre's mayor from 1924 to 1939 and owned the Capital Journal, while Ruth was an important figure in the local women's suffrage movement.
